I will be visiting WDW for the first time in Feb (can't wait!) with my husband and 8 year old daughter. My daughter is OBSESSED with all things Japanese so dinner in Japan at Epcot is a MUST. Her favorite resteraunt is our local habachi grill which also has a quiet table service area where we can order non-hibachi food as well. Did I mention she also loves sushi (rolls with cooked fish). Which resteraunt in Japan would be the best bet for us and have the best quality food. We are planning to use dining plan credits. All 3 of us enjoy Japanese food and my husband in particular is an adventurous eater. Thanks

We did teppan edo last trip and loved it! It was very similar to our local hibachi restaurant.

Have a great time!

Both are 1 TS credit. Teppan Edo is all about the teppanyaki (hibachi) show and I think people eat there as much for the 'entertainment value' as they do for the food. Since you already have that available locally, I think you would be better at Tokyo Dining. You can get teppanyaki style food at Tokyo Dining too; they just don't cook it at your tabletop. But Tokyo Dining also has a much wider array of foods and cooking styles on its menu, plus sushi.

----- I am NOT a sushi fan, but I know that there is a dedicated sushi bar by Kona in the Poly, too. Cali Grill is another location that reportedly has good sushi but I think it will be closed for refurb during your visit, and unless you pay out of pocket it's 2 TS credits.

I agree. Since you have gone to your local hibachi restaurant, i'd go for tokyo dining. I will say that Teppan Edo has fantastic food. Love the show the chefs put on. The filet mignon is fantastic, so is the noodles and dessert. YUM!

We have eaten at both Teppan Edo and Tokoyo Dining and we enjoyed both. We go to Teppan Edo nearly every trip.
However, many here on the DIS feel that they have better value Japanese Steakhouses in the neighborhoods and do not recommend Teppan Edo. It does not include soup and salad appetizers (They are available at an extra cost) and they serve the traditional Japanese white rice, not Chinese Fried Rice. This is a deal breaker for many here. However we love it. Sushi is also available as an OOP extra appetizer.
Tokoyo Dining is the more formal of the two. You sit at individual tables and order off of an extensive menu. Many different styles of cooking are offered, for example hibachi style, tempura, sushi etc.
Service is wonderful at both and the food is great.
I think you just need to choose which style of meal you would like best.
Enjoy

Teppen Edo is almost certainly not going to be as good as your local hibachi restaurant. The food was bland, the show was meh and the portions were relatively small.

It's not that it's bad per-say, but it's not even close to where it should be quality wise IMO.

Give Tokyo Dining a shot.
