Tangierine Cafe...yay or nay?

Thanks for all the responses:woohoo: I was on the fence but I think I'm definitely giving it a try now! Hopefully we can catch Mo Rockin.

I have to give it a huge NAY!

We ate there last year as the feedback was good & the menu looked good. Proves everybody is different. We ate it but the flavors did us in. We spent the next few hours feeling like we could throw up & almost wishing we would so to feel better. Even now the thought of the place makes me & my DH sick.

My favorite CS at WDW- GREAT food. I love this place! Plus- great conversations with the CMs here. Excellent vegetarian options...

We ate there once last trip and enjoyed it. The portions are huge, more than enough to share. We sat inside on the counter facing the serving line; the people watching kept the young one entertained. Give it a try and report back. Have a great trip!

I love it, it's one of our favorites. We ate there twice during our last trip.

I'm wondering if those in the nay camp eat middle eastern fare elsewhere? Is it the unfamiliar flavors or the restaurant in general that didn't agree with you?

YAY the food is really good, we get it and sit outside, for CS the food it good :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 :santa:

We live in Detroit and have a lot of good middle eastern food available to us.

My husband thought it was comprable to some of the better restarants we go to here. I think we split a combo plate and some side dish for the three of us.

My husband hated everything about Disney except this restaurant the the Haunted Mansion.

you know its all a matter of taste.......I didnt care for it but it wasnt because the food was not good....it was because I didnt care for the type of food and condiments on the food.....but alot of people love it...

You shouldn't have trouble finding seating inside or outside. We love this CS, but it is definitely not for everyone. I think a lot of people are hesitant and end up going elsewhere. On the other hand, we found during our last trip that there was also a good handful of people waiting outside the door for the restaurant to open up.

Yay here, too. We'd never tried it b/c of the mixed and mostly poor reviews we'd seen / heard. But, on our last trip we decided to try it anyway and were shocked that it was good. We got a veggie platter and a Shawarma platter and ate everything. We do normally eat this type of cuisine and enjoy the flavors, so maybe that makes a difference. Service was good, too. They were having a problem with something, like one of the large appliances or something. So, they gave us extra baklava since we had to wait an extra 10 minutes or so. Extra baklava for waiting a whole 10 minutes, I didn't complain at all!

I am definitely in the nay camp. We have tried the cafe and the TS restaurant and just thought the food was not good. We do like all kinds of food and so its not the flavors. We did a dinner at the cafe and threw almost everything away. :confused3

I will say Yay, having had many a delish meal there, but I have also been twice where the food was dried out...so this poster has a point....but I'd still go back, worth the risk, cause when it's good, it's good! And again, the setting is cool - I love the detail, really has an old world look.
If I did get an inedible meal though, I would bring it back.....

Definite yay. I love schawarma and the one at the Tangerine is fine. If you don't like Middle Eastern food, though, this place won't change your mind.

YAY:thumbsup2 we love it here...also the portions are huge..if you are on the dining plan you get a yummy dessert..the baklavah is to die for!!

If you like mildly seasoned middle eastern food, Tangerine Cafe is for you. I love the cous-cous salad and the schwarma. I really like hummus even though I would prefer a spicy or roasted red pepper version and I really enjoy lentils. I've been eating there since it's opening (wow, dating myself here) and I've always enjoyed the food.

TD Nala, I have had a few instances where the scharma was less than hot but not often enough that it would deter me from eating there!

A big yay from my family. We try to eat here at least once each trip--sometimes more. Love the schwarma platter and I really like the tabulleh. :thumbsup2

Definatly yay! There is sitting indoors and outside. I absolutly love the cous cous salad they serve there, I have to stop for a side of that even if I don't go there for a full meal.

OP here;

We just returned from a great trip:goodvibes We had lunch at the Tangierine Cafe on 11/24 and it was one of the best meals we had all week! I had the Shwarama platter and enjoyed every thing on it. Even my slightly picky dd17 liked it. I can't wait to go again:thumbsup2

Love it! Seating is indoor/outdoor. Nice quite place to eat - food portions are huge so it's a good place to share a meal.
