Can annybody who knows both airports give me some pros and cons of them? I have relatives in th Tampa Area that I'll have to visit before or after my Disney trip. Either way I'll have to rent a car and drive. Tampa flights are $10-$20 per person more expensive. Which would you pick

We always fly into Tampa and out of Orlando on Southwest. We find the drive easy, the cost is usually the same or less, and rental cars have usually cost us less. The airport is smaller and much easier even with the shuttle to get my rental car and get on our way. I like the drive to Orlando. We always stop at the Hard Rock Casino to put in $20 and continue on your journey.
We enjoy the drive and it is a great way for us to start off our trip.

Since most rental cars don't have drop charges between Florida airports, why not fly into one airport and fly out of the other?

BobK/Orlando

:surfweb:i HAVE hERTZ BOOKED OUT OF ORLANDO WITH A DROP IN tAMPA. nOW i JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE AIRFARES TO OPEN.

We are flying in and out of Tampa this year....I got great flights from Detroit to Tampa and the rental car was cheap too. We always rent a car the first day we are there to do some shopping so no biggie. I have not flown into Tampa but have driven there from Orlando, to drop off car at Alamo and then shuttled over to the Port for a cruise....drive is not bad at all. Now I have been to Alamo, but didnt really notice how far from the airport...does anyone know if there is a shuttle or is it within walking distance? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

How far is the drive from Tampa to Orlando - more than an hour or so?

I think we'd like to fly into Tampa, visit Busch Gardens, then drive to Orlando for the rest of our vacation.

Tampa is the poor man's airport gateway to Disney.

These are the only pro's:
1. When you are doing or seeing something in that area,
2. When all the good airfares to Orlando are gone.

And the Tampa activities would have to be first and/or last to make Tampa worthwhile.

It's a little more than an hour, depending on traffic. I spend a lot of time in Tampa and if I know I'm going to Disney, I pretty much never go to Busch Gardens, FWIW. Also, they don't do the beer samples anymore.

LOL! thank you nytimez, not beer drinkers here. Never been to BC, always wonder if we're missing something.
