Tampa help

We are making a side trip to Clearwater for a certain couple of dolphins. We have booked a rental car from WDW CCC for Tuesday. Want to hit CMA in afternoon and staying at a hotel in Tampa. Then back to WDW for rest of stay Wednesday. Any Tampa folks have suggestions for restaurants, sites, etc....? Traveling with 7 and 11 yr old.

So much to see and do in Tampa/St. Pete area. Don't know where in Tampa you are but here are a few things I would suggest. I am in Pinellas closer to CLWTR so I can't really comment on the restaurants in Tampa. Columbia in Ybor is probably one of the most famous and rated one of the best. Things to do may take up more time than you have planned though. Like the Aquarium, Lowery Park Zoo (always rated one of the top 20 zoos in the country), MOSI science museum (very kid friendly) and Bush Gardens.
In CLWTR - The Clearwater Aquarium with the world famous Winter the dolphin is really right at the beach. It's not too large and can be done in an AM or PM visit. If eating at the beach, Frenchy's has 3 locations on Clearwater beach and all are good, family friendly and right on the main drag.
Also at the beach is a cool pirate adventure ship that can be done in a few hours. Hopefully the Admin will keep the links I post for you below.

Bern's steakhouse. The food is excellent and the dining is a true experience. Do the kitchen and wine cellar tour and definitely dessert too.

Definitely try the black bean soup at the Columbia, a beautiful restaurant.

There won't be too much time for you to do many things for just one day. I would suggest hitting the CMA, then head over to the beach for an afternoon. You will be right there. You could do lunch or dinner at Frenchys, or there is also a Colombia on Clearwater beach. Not the original location but same Great food.
