Seeing as this is my first trip to the USA I'm keen to catch an NHL game at Tampa Bay. Has anyone got any experience of this? The playoffs should be underway when I get there so I'd probably have to get tickets in advance off the net.

Is it a good night out? And combinable with a day at Busch Gardens?

You'll certainly need to get tickets in advance once the play-off games are announced. Check TicketMaster as soon as the play-off line-ups are set. The stadium is actually in St Petersburg, so it makes for a great combination with a day at the beach!

I just happened to see this thread from the front page. The tickets are are sale now and you should buy them as soon as you can. There are generally limited number of single game tickets available to playoff games. Good luck in geting them.

Purchase single-game tickets at Ticketmaster.com, by calling Ticketmaster at 813.288.BOLT or by visiting the McDonald’s Box Office at the St. Pete Times Forum. A limited number of seats will be available for each game in the Plaza, Club and Terrace Levels of the arena. Playoff tickets for additional games will go on sale at a later, still to be determined, date.

It looks like the 7th-seeded Lightning will be up against the 2nd-seeded New Jersey Devils, but I can't find any dates as yet, which is slightly odd from an organisational point of view. How can no-one say even when the play-offs will be?? The Devils should be home for the first 2 games, then there should be 2 at Tampa (I think!). It looks like the playoffs start on April 11, which would give New Jersey the home games Apr 11 and 12, then a day off, and the Lightning two games on Apr 14 and 15. But why the NHL website can't show this for sure, I don't know :sad2:

Yeah I could buy some tickets now but there's no dates up. Surely the NHL know the dates of the matches, I can't buy tickets if I don't know if I'll even be in the country!

I'll keep an eye on the website over the coming few days.

We're big hockey family. (NY Islanders for the record). The dates aren't up yet becuase they are still not 100% sure of who will actually play who untill the season is over. They do the same thing in baseball. They will not announce the exact dates to the end of the season. Just keep watching the site. When they go on sale, the tickets will go very quickly.

Well all of the first round of the playoffs are over the week before I get to Florida. Here's hoping the lightning can get past New Jersey and make it to round two.
