Tampa Area Hotel ?

Can anyone suggest a nice hotel in the downtown Tampa area? Six of us will be spending 1 night there before our cruise in January and have no idea what area is best. A hotel with an airport shuttle service would be great. We don't mind paying for a couple of taxis to the cruise terminal.

Any help would be appreciated.

If money is no object, there is a hotel actually at the airport so that is very convenient.

We stayed in Tampa one night before a flight once where I used biddingfortravel.com for advice on how to do a priceline bid in Tampa and got the Wellesley Inn near the airport for a decent price. Since it was only for one night we didn't want anything fancy. The breakfast room was a madhouse, but it did include breakfast.

Hi, Nancy,

I reread your post about the airport shuttle. I don't know if they have that -- we had a rental car. In rereading, I also feel my first post was unclear. The hotel at the airport is not the Wellesley Inn. The Wellesley was the cheap one that we got through Priceline because we didn't want to spend to stay at the airport. Sorry if that was confusing!
