I have not ever started keeping a journal and felt this was a great time.

I am planning on walking in the 1/2 marathon in 2005 and I am ready to start getting prepared. I have been walking on the treadmill for a few years and I have lost around a total of 50 pounds. I have put on a few over the holidays so I am working on getting those pounds off.

I was able to get outside and do a walk at the local park for 60 minutes and it felt great. I did learn one thing, I need a better pair of walking shoes. I was expecting some soreness in my legs, but my feet are killing me this morning.

I am going to give my feet a break today, but will do my squats and crunches on the exercise ball.

Hi Tammy,

What a wonderful goal - the marathon in 2005. I sure do wish I could join you guys. Congratulations on the 50 pound loss! You must feel so good. I wish you success as you train for the marathon! Take care!

Tammy, welcome to the journals. Congrats on your amazing weight loss. I wish I could get to the marathon with you. Keep us posted on our progress.
Beth

1/3/04-I did not walk yesterday as my foot was bothering me from my walk on New Year's Day. I did get my squats and crunches in and I am learning how to use exercise bands for some strength training.

I have realized that I am not drinking enough water and I am going to start measuring it out again and making sure that it is gone before bed-time. I used to keep up with how many oz. I was drinking of water each day and that helped.

I have also gotten into a bad habit along with DH of eating a snack at night and that is going to STOP.

I am going to go to the grocery store this weekend and stock up on some better snacking items.

I am going to get on the treadmill for a little while today and do my other exercises.

ZerasPride & Strings-Thanks for the encouragement on participating in the marathon. When I first decided to go for it I thought, what have I done, but then realized that I can do this if I set my mind to it. I'll be keeping a post in my journal of how I am doing.

Invest in some good shoes. DBIL runs 3 marathons a year. Shoes are everything. There's also a product called glide to help prevent chafing. I know you can do this marathon. You go girl.
Beth

Beth,

Thanks for the advice. Shoes are my next purchase on the list. When just exercising on the treadmill they were fine, but I can tell by trying to increase my time and speed it is very important. WOW, three marathons a year, that's impressive.::yes::

1/4 report

I did get on the treadmill for 30 minutes and it felt good. I did put on my shoes that I usually treadmill in and could really tell a difference. I don't know why I didn't think I needed to wear them when I went for my long walk.

I still am struggling to get my water in so as soon as I get done typing this, I'm going to go fill up my water container and it has to be empty before I go to bed tonight. I have got to really start doing better with this.

I slipped and ate a snack late last night and can tell that I feel heavy this morning. No more of that either.

I am also stocking up on some healthy snacks today when we go to get groceries, I'm tired of not having anything that I feel like I can munch on.

Off to start my day, I hope to get in some walking outside today.

Tammy -

Sounds like you're doing great! Thanks for chastising me on my water consumption (or lack thereof)...but now I'm going to stay on you for it too!! ;)

Don't you hate when you eat something that you know isn't good for you, and you regret it afterward 'cause you don't feel good? That drives me nuts! Why can't I not feel good BEFORE I eat it, so that I won't eat it.

Just so I can compare notes, what do you have for healthy snacks??

FonFon-

I know what I said about the water this morning was true because i had been failing in that area as well. I now have mine in a container in the frig and I can't go to bed until it is gone:D . I might be :boat: before the night is over.

I am planning on stocking up on some celery, carrots, cucumbers and green peppers. I find that crunch things tend to curb my cravings and I seem to want to snack on something around the 3pm hour.

Keep up your great work and please do stay on me about my water too. Thanks!

Hope you didn't :boat: away last night from all the water! :teeth:

I need to stock up on lo-cal munchies too. My munchies seem to hit around the time I start supper and if I keep some veggies on hand I will grab them instead of something that's bad for me.

You have done so great!! That red goal clippie looks super good! I hope to have one of those some day, too.

I missed yesterday checking in, just couldn't get to the boards (too much work that had to be done). I am happy to report that I did my 30 minutes on the treadmill at a faster rate, crunches and squats using the exercise ball. I am starting to add a few more each time and can feel the burn.

I did get stocked up on the healthy snacks and it has helped and I am making myself eat breakfast.

I drank my water yesterday and it was very difficult, I'm hoping that once I get back into the routine it will get much easier.

mowsie dreamer-Thank goodness I didn't float away and I didn't even have to get up in the middle of the night, so I know that I'm not drinking enough of my water yet to the point that I use to.

Off to start the day:D .

Wow, you were able to sleep through the night. That is something I miss since starting this diet. You are doing a fabulous job with the exercise. Jeep up the hard work.
Beth

Since I was able to sleep through the night that meant that I'm still not drinking as much water as I was earlier on. I just am going to have to keep working the water figure up. I think I need to start keeping up with how many oz. each day, that used to help a lot.

I haven't gotten my exercise in today, had to take DD to doctor and now we are schooling. Hopefully I can fit it in this afternoon. I am one that usually finds it hard to get it in if I don't do it first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi Tammy. Sounds like you're off to a great start, and what a goal. You can do it! :D And good for you about trying to drink more water, too. I need to start doing that again myself.

I am confessing here in my journal that I really fell off last week. I couldn't get my motivation in gear to exercise like I needed to, I didn't count my points like I need and no, I didn't drink enough water. I was able to show a 1/2 pound loss but I'm really surprised. I have 9 1/2 more to go to get back to my actual goal and then I'll be ready to start focusing on training for the 1/2 Marathon. I did get registered last night and that is a very exciting thing to do.

I have already gotten my 50 minutes in on the treadmill this morning and I'm getting ready to go work on my exercise ball for a few minutes.

I will be able to post tomorrow that I counted everything that I put in my mouth and that I drank my water today. I am making that promise to myself.:p
