Tallahassee Hotel?

We'll be sleeping in Tallahassee on our way to Orlando in February.

I don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel, as we'll be checking in around midnight, sleeping a few hours and then up at the crack of dawn for Orlando.

Any advice on clean hotels? I currenlty have a ressie at the Howard Johnson Express on N. Monroe Street, off I-10. Anyone with any experience with this hotel?

Last time, we stayed at the Best Western Seminole and thought we'd die - talk about filthy! I don't want a repeat of that fiasco!

Have you thought about the Ramada on N. Monroe, right off of I10. They have just rehabed all their rooms. Not to mention there is a Cracker Barrel next door.

There is also a decent Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn in the same area on Graves Rd. Both right off of I10

In December of 2002 we stayed at the Hampton Inn on N. Monroe because it was the cheapest I could find. It was very clean. If I remember correctly I booked it through Expedia because they had the lowest rates.

Thank you so much for the great information! We will be driving from Texas in March. princess:

ShannonP -
We had good luck with the Holiday Inn on Graves (just off I-10) two years ago and will be repeating our stopover there this year. We attempted the LaQuinta last time, but poor customer service at the front desk had my husband out of there before he even registered!

I have a feeling the Tallahassee hotel parking lots will be crowded with lots of LSU-stickered, LA-registered vehicles that weekend!

See you on I-10!:wave2:

We usually stop in Tallahassee on the way to WDW (we always leave for Mardi Gras!). I've used roomsaver.com and stopped at the Cabot Lodge on N. Monroe. The rooms are o.k., but the kids enjoy the continental breakfast they have. We usually arrive late at night, go straight to sleep, get up in the morning early, eat then leave.

It seems that everyone from La has the same plans:p We will be leaving around 6.00 PM. We are also planning to stop in Tallahassee. We did this in June and only stopped for dinner at McDonalds to go and we got there I guess around 1-1:30. Can't remember exactly. We did stay on N Monroe right off I-10. I was trying to find my receipt from the hotel because I can't remember for the life of me what the name was. :o However it was very clean and there was a cont. BK included. Cost around $45. We did not book in advance being that we were not sure where we would stop. Do yall always make ressies in advance??
Well I guess we will see yall in Tallahasse. Safe trip to all

We usually walk-in to check if a room is available. I take a few coupons from the roomsaver website that way if a hotel is full we try the next on the list. We're usually able to get a room for around $50.

How long is it from Tallahasse to WDW. In March we are going to visit DH's step sister for a couple of days in Tallahasse before going to WDW. From Map quest it looks like about 5 hours, how accurate is this.

Thanks,

Allison

We may try the Howard Johnson Express on N. Monroe. Anyone have any experience with this hotel? Got rate of $50 per nite.

abby, that 5 hour time frame is about right, depending on how fast you drive. I think we usually do it in a little less than that, though.

infoseeker, tell me more about the Cabot Lodge. I saw something about it on the internet, but was leery because it wasn't a chain. Is it clean - that's my main focus because, just like you guys, we stop in, sleep, eat and leave early.

We've also stayed at the Ramada on N. Monroe (last January for two nights) and it was nice! Then once before that we stayed at the La Quinta across the road and it was gross

Also don't know if ya'll are looking for a good place to eat or not but there is an amazing restaurant on N. Monroe on the opposite side of I-10- super fantastic steaks and such! Drat that I can't remember the name, but if anyone's interested let me know- I can tell you exactly how to get there and all! We've eaten there quite a few times, my best friend goes to FSU and even though he doesn't really eat a lot of meat he always breaks down when we go there!

OK, Princess Tanya, have you remembered the name yet?? We'll be travelling on DH's birthday, so it'll be nice to have a recommendation on some other place than MickeyD's or Cracker Barrel!

Thanks in advance :)

Some of the nice restaurants on N Monroe
include Red Lobster, The Melting Pot (very good), Marie Livingston's is excellent (at the Holiday Inn)

The next exit is Thomasville Rd and you will find alot more.
Outback, Fridays, Smokey Bones, Bonefish, Carrabbas

Oh Cajunmommy,

Not only did I remember the name, but I also have a website for you- complete with menus(link at bottom of the page)!http://www.tfn.net/MarieLivingstons/history.html
:Pinkbounc

Marie Livingston's- the same Grumpy92 mentioned is my favorite restaurant in Tallie! Out of the numerous time's we've been there we never had a meal that was less then perfect! Plus we've seen quite a few Birthday song's performed and I'm sure you will love it!

Since your coming on I-10 go to the Marie Livingston's right off of I-10:
2714 Graves Road.
850-562-2525

It's on the west bound side of I-10 and there are signs that will point you in the right direction- it's in a parking lot of a couple of hotels and stuff...

It's a super duper place for a meal and everytime we're up that way we stop in! We use to live in New Orleans and miss it so but now we're only two hours away from WDW :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Hope you enjoy!! :wave2:

ShannonP,

The Cabot Lodge is a chain- a very small chain, so I guess it's more like a bracelet! Ok, that was a pretty sad attempt  check out the main site:
http://www.cabotlodge.com/ while I haven't stayed at the one in Tallahassee, I did stay at the one in Gainsville off of 75 and it was super nice for the price! ;)

Tanya :teeth:

Ah princess, thanks for the info.

Since the lodge is more like a bracelet, I'll be sure the check out the "link" you provided.

See, I'm just as warped as you...::yes:: :jester:

Hmm, do ya'll think it might have anything to do with living in NOLA? :scratchin

I was sure that it was something in the air, but I see the effects are long term :jumping1:
