Not sure if my 3.5 year old will love him, or have the pants scared off of her.

What's he like?

:mickeyjumMy husband and I met him last March, and it was a very cool experience. He won't approach your daughter if she's scared, and you can always carry her. He will involve your party in a magic trick and my even identify you by name. It was a lot of fun, and we got some great pictures!!!

If she likes characters regularly, I think it will be fine. IT's not loud or obtrusive or anything. Of course at 3 its totally unpredictable isnt it!

It's definitely an interesting experience to meet talking Mickey. He'll talk with you like a normal person would. Plus the people in front of us came from Japan and he spoke in Japanese to them (he pretended like he wasn't too sure if he was pronouncing things correctly). It was so cool!

Neither of those things happen for all guest visits.
He does not always do a magic trick.
(And the "call by name" thing is not a regular occurrence with many guests.)

We went last September and mickey wasn't talking. They told us he had a very long day and had lost his voice! So we will try again this year.

One time he got my kids to roar like a lion. The other time he was just kind of asking if they were having fun. It was cool.

I was just describing my experience...

I'd go with that, but you said, "He will…"
and I wanted to make sure that guests knew that "he will" not always do those things.

Did he ask your name, or is The experience somehow linked to the magic bands? (Or did you have a button with your name on it?) If it's linked to one's magic band, I wonder if he'll only identify guests by name if they seem to have a 'real' name on their band (we just have initials).

I think he's odd. I think it also broke the Magic a bit for my youngest. It was like she could suspend reality when he was a human-sized mute mouse dressed in clothes, but the talking? Well now it's gone too far ;)

We met him at MNSSHP. He insisted that we walk around like Frankenstein with him. We had to ask for a "normal" picture. A CP I know says he is actually controlled in AK!

Thanks everyone- sorry I missed the Friday thread. I guess I'll wait and see how she is this year with characters in general before trying this.

My 3 and 5 year old loved talking Mickey. Mickey made them touch there noses and my 3 year thought that was hilarious.

DD, then 8, thought he was creepy and she has always loved Mickey. DH and I had to agree with her. The talking was stiff and a little delayed. It didn't feel like a natural interaction at all, just a preprogrammed routine. Since your DD has never met Mickey before, maybe it will seem more natural to her.

I love him! My kids do too and so have all of the people we've seen who were in the room before our turn. Once a man in his late 30s with an obvious developmental disability got to meet talking Mickey just before us. Watching him experience the magic and seeing his reaction brought me to tears. Amazing.

I guess the uncanny valley phenomenon applies to oversized cartoon rodents as well!
