The other post about the Air France strike has just reminded what DH told me he read about last night - a possible Eurostar strike in the run-up to Christmas:scared: .

We go on the 18th, so hopefully won't be affected if it does go ahead but we come back on the 21st. So, don't know if it'll be over by then. If not, we'll just have to stay an extra night;)

Are you kidding me?????:scared1:

We're coming back on the 19th and my mum is arriving on the 21st:scared1:

Does that mean we'll stay another day there???? :confused3

I don't know Ema:confused3 . Hopefully things will be sorted and it won't go to a strike. After booking the train tickets, Peter did tell me 'what if they have a strike as it's so close to Christmas?' (as these lovely transport people do all the time) and I told him 'now you tell me after I've booked & paid" lol. I never even thought about the possibility of the trains striking, only airports lol.

Fingers crossed that everything will be ok.

Ah, they make my blood boil!!! Do they ever do any work apart from moan about money and going on strike??? I'm sick of the tube workers doing that all the time :headache:

we go on sat 13th dec !!! 9am ish

does that mean ours will run ?! 24 hours from what time on 12th ???!!

OMG i will be soooooooooooo mad if ours doesnt run due to striking, argh!!!

Just have to watch out/listen to the news come nearer the time I guess. Think they're still 'talking' at the moment?

Usually these ballots come to nothing, its usually just the media hyping everything up.

thanks guys

fingers crossed then !!

really really looking forward to our dec trip!! and dont want anything to spoil it

:)

Oh NO! We go in December! that article says possible strike on the 12th :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: when we go :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

As we are coming from Australia, we are staying in London for a few nights before so we will have to find accomodation in London for another night. If they do strike, will Eurostar put us on a train the next day? How much notice do they give when they are definately going to stike? Will we only find out at the station when we arrive on the day or will it be announced before? Don't really know anything about how strikes work.

Lets hope they don't go ahead with this. I'm very nervous now.

I really wouldnt worry about it. I'm sure everything will be fine.

IF it happens (and they usually dont even end up happening), there will be notice given (you have to by law - I think it might be 2 weeks) so you would have time to make alternative arrangements. Even when strikes happen you usually don't notice as airlines/airports/trains have enough staff to cover most of the day. I wouldnt worry, (I know thats hard to do though!):)

Well it says they'll announce on Nov, 27th so hopefully they'll call it off... With London Underground people, they rarely call it off and it causes major disruptions:mad:

Some people from DH's company went to Paris when they French Eurostar staff went on strike. They did stay another night in Paris but trying to find a place on the train the next day was a nightmare...

Hopefully it won't happen, I really need to be back to pick my mum up on the 21st.
