The older I get the more issues I have with motion sickness. I do not handle spinning too well. I plan to try the green side and see how I do but can anyone tell me what the spinning is like?

Is it like spinning on the tea cups or is it more like a souped up version of a carousel?

The intent of spinning, is to make you feel like you are taking Gs. I do not perceive the spinning and going around, but more as the force on you. But if I had to pick between the two options you listed, I would say teacups.

Both teacups & Mission Space green can quickly awaken my motion sickness. But, if I take Dramamine a good 45 minutes before riding them, I'm good to go, with no issues. It's also great for Star Tours.

It spins like a centrifuge. If you can't take even mild spinning like on tea cups, don't do it. If you do wind up doing it, keep your head planted back against the headrest and keep your eyes glued straight ahead even when they start wanting to "track," don't let them. lol

I have motion sickness and cannot do any kind of a simulator ride. Instant violent illness. Don't recommend.

My husband refuses to even go near the Teacups but he loved Mission Space green. He said he had no problems, but he hated orange and felt off for a bit afterwards.

This is interesting about your eyes "tracking". On orange I did not know I was spinning but my eyes started to track, moving left to right or right to left, as my mind knew I was spinning. Strange experience. I do get motion sickness on spinning rides and especially the swinging pirate ship but felt okay on MS orange. It was fun. If I did it twice in a row I may begin to get sick but once I was okay.

It's like the carnival ride where the force holds you against the wall - I didn't feel like I was spinning but definitely felt my stomach drop and the force on my chest and face.

I can't even sit on a normal swing without getting nauseated most days, But I was able to do everything (including MS:orange, start tours, teacups) with zero problems by taking a non drowsy Dramamine each morning!

I do fine on Space, but I did read up on it before riding when it first opened. Realizing my eyes would try to track, but to keep them straight ahead really helped I think. I would only caution people that get sick because it can put a dent in your day if it throws you off. I have a friend that gets bad motion sickness and she'd be done for several days if she ever tried to ride.

I was really worried about Mission Space orange but did it. Honestly, I didn't think it was bad. You're just pushed into your seat, it's just pressure. A lot of pressure. I didn't have the feeling of spinning at all. Keep your eyes forward. I'd liken it more to a souped of version of Star Tours. But that's just me.:)

Cannot handle Mission Space at all. It is the combination of spinning and virtual reality for me. Instant severe nausea. I can do everything else except tea cups and can only ride Star Tours once in a day. Oh, and I was just starting to feel a little off when the ride on Astro Orbiter ended. Could not do that one more than once either.

Edit: I cannot do the green side either because of the motion and simulation...

The problem for me ISN'T the spinning. It's the pressure on my chest. It feels like an elephant on my chest, like an asthma attack...then instant panic attack. It's a horrible feeling and a horrible ride (for me). I thought I was going to die the first time I rode it. Nope. No thanks. I can do green just fine.

Orange side is terrible. I've never done green side but I've done orange 2 or 3 times and each time I've said I'm never riding it again. If you can't handle spinning or the tea cups or anything like that, then you'll hate orange side.

You're fully enclosed so you don't see the spinning, but if you take your eyes off the screen (they tell you not to) then you'll find your eyes moving back and forth and trying to focus. They have puke bags for each seat for a reason.

I love rollercoasters and will ride any type of coaster out there. I've ridden every coaster at Disney World, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, and Six Flags New Orleans (RIP)....and I'd say Mission Space Orange is worse than any coaster I've been on.

Ok so it feels like the Gravitron ride at the county fair then. I never had a problem with that it was the spinning like a top similar to the tea cups I can't take. To be fair, I haven't been on the Gravitron in years though.

I have to swing by the pharmacy to get some Sudafed before I go, perhaps some Dramamine wouldn't be a bad idea while I'm at it.

What exactly is the difference between green and orange?

I don't do well with rides that spin. I have no problem with roller coasters however.

I've never had a problem with Mission Space orange side, I think mainly because my brain doesn't interpret what's happening as spinning.

To me the sensation is most like the first couple seconds of Rockin' Roller Coaster, just for a longer period of time as you 'blast off' into space. Then there are two more times when that feeling of pressure returns, just not quite as severe as at the beginning, during the slingshot around the moon and the descent to Mars.

The green side to me is similar to Star Tours. I avoided MS for years and then when I finally rode it I really enjoyed it. If you can do Star Tours you should be able to do MS green no problem. I can't handle teacups unless I go in a separate teacup from DH and DD and hold the wheel steady to keep it from spinning and no way am I trying orange!

Only ride in my life that I got off and said NOPE, NEVER AGAIN. I've don'e the tallest coasters out there, they are no problem. I would have applauded the ride breaking and having to stop early. half the people that just rode had trouble walking straight to exit. I remember passing some garbage cans thinking it might be wise to stay in this area for a few minutes but others actually needed them..

I never tried the less intense green, don't need to try it. I think that's just a simulator but it goes into angles and things so you get similar sensations but orange is a flat out centrifuge like you see in youtube videos with pilots and astronauts passing out in when training.. you'll have to ask others to say what the real difference is..

now with high blood pressure, there is no doubt in my mind green would kill me.

the capsule your in is also tight, if your even slightly claustrophobic even if you don't know it, your going to have a miserable time on top of the ride..

edited to say the correct name of the side I did.

Here's the official clarification on the two sides from Disney.com:

Pick Your Level of Intensity
Mars-bound cadets can choose from 2 levels of training. Both offer the same training mission but differ in intensity. The Orange Team is the more intense training experience, while the Green Team is less intense.

The Orange Team experience uses a centrifuge that spins and tilts to simulate the speed and G-forces of a spacecraft launch and re-entry, while the Green Team experience is a motion simulator ride that does not spin.

If you are prone to motion sickness or uncertain about which level to choose, you should opt for the Green Team for a less intense but still thoroughly exhilarating experience.

I'm a total ride wimp and found the Green side pretty lame. It is very tight, though, so if you're at all claustrophobic, definitely take that into consideration.
