Talk to me about doing laundry at DLH

We're considering doing laundry at the DLH during our pool day to conserve suitcase space. I haven't needed a laundry mat in a long time but I have some fond memories .

How much does a washer and dryer cost per load?
How do you pack your laundry soaps?
Any best practices tips?

Thanks! I did look at that thread and found it more specific to "should I do laundry" and less about experience doing laundry.

We always do laundry on our trips. I bring the pods for soap and put them in a plastic soap dish in case they break, purex used to have a dryer type sheet that had soap in it, was great they do not make anymore. I used to bring quarters in plastic M&M container but now most you use CC. That is how it is at the DLH. I bring plastic Garbage bags for out dirty clothes, I used to use the fold up laundry basket I like the garbage bags better,
Dryer sheets also make your suitcase smell good too. I think the cost at DLH was $3.00 for wash and $3.00 to dry but not 100 percent sure.

Check at your local grocery store or wal-mart type store for single use laundry soap (About $.75 to $1.25). Tide makes them in a mylar type envelope package, just tear and pour. I concur with Kaui4life on the dryer sheets. We use zip lock bags and of course, if you a flying, don't put it in you carry-on by mistake.

We have not been to DL in ten years but have been to WDW and on Disney Cruises several times. They have converted to credit card/room keys to pay for laundry.

Strange that DLH charges for laundry. We stayed at GCH in 2015 and the machines and soap were free. I had all this change and I did not need any of it. Totally free. The soap and dryer sheets were in a vending machine and there were no prices, so I pushed the numbers for my selection and outcome the soap. I wonder if there is a charge nowadays at GCH?

I believe there are a few laundry facilities at the Grand. I used one a few weeks back and they most definitely charge. It was super easy to use a credit card and then get the laundry app to watch your machine's cycle progress.

I did laundry at DLH in June. It was $3 for wash and $3 for dry. I just used the vending machine and bought detergent and dryer sheets. I paid for all with a credit card. There aren’t many machines. We were in adventure tower and the laundry was pretty far. I used a suitcase to carry it all back and forth.
