We are booked for a tent site in October for 4 nights. I had hoped we could eat most of our meals out and supplement with a bit of campsite cooking. We hope to be enjoying a full day at the Epcot food and wine festival and should have plenty to eat that day :cool1:. We also plan an evening at MNSSHP. We plan to spend that at just hanging around the fort-looks like there is lots for the kids to do then head to the MK for the party in the late afternoon. We are undecided on the last day-going to let the kids decide.

It seems there is no food court at FW. Is there a TS? I am especially concerned about breakfast and our MNSSHP day. Do I need to make some TS reservations? I was hoping to; #1-not cook very much at the site and #2-not be tied to ADR. Our kids like typical kid fare but don't handle hunger very well ;). Fill me in on whats avalible so I can plan accordingly.

Ok first of all you say you are coming in August...but MNSSHP and F&W festival are both in October.:confused3 Maybe just a typo?

Anyway you can most likely be seated at Trail's End for breakfast without an ADR. Its a buffet, so the kids won't have to wait for their food, and its pretty cheap by WDW standards.

What month are you planning to be at the Fort ?
And how many days are you gonna be at at the Fort ?

Ooooo, Oct,,great month, :thumbsup2 We are gonna try'n hit the Fort the end of Oct.
We switch up the dine plans depending on what month we are at the Fort.

The TS plan gives you, 1-table service meal per day,1-counter service meal per day and one snack per day.(per person)

The QS, or counter service plan gives you, 2- counter service meals per day and 2-snacks per day (per person)

When the F&W Fest is going on, you can use your snack credits to sample the food at the kiosk at all the different countries around the world .We like to eat/sample our way around Epcot,

sooo for that reason we buy the counter service plan.
HOWEVER, you have to leave the Fort to search out the good counter service food for your meals,,and there are some very good places to eat.
And this also gives you a chance to check out other resorts.

If we are not doing the F&W Fest, then we buy the TS plan.

The Trails End is only table service,,but they do hava breakfast buffet.

Other items at the pool and stores are fairly limited snacky/counter service type foods.

(just our opinion on what we like to do)

Trailsend is your only option for breakfast at the fort. The have a small take-out selection of muffins, etc. As for sit-down...We were down at Thanksgiving and the Fort was virtually sold out - and we were able to be seated for breakfast without an ADR no problem and seated immediately (about 8-8:30am) you can see the menu for Trails End at Allears.net.

Also, you can take a quick boat ride over to the Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge and have a counter service breakfast at the Contempo Cafe or Roaring Forks.

I like Trails End in that it is very reasonably priced per normal Disney prices and the breakfast is good, but a buffet (as is all their meals). A lot of the time there is not enough leeway to get to Trails End, eat, then make it to the park opening. I usually save the breakfast buffet for the days we go to the water parks. I always wished that TE would have an optional Egg McSomething or another that you could buy & take with you.

Aside from that, there are other options. Sometimes if we are going to MK that day, we would go across to CR, pick up a breakfast sandwich, then take the monorail to MK.

Of course, all the parks have a breakfast being served somewhere. One of our favorites is to go to DS at opening, jump on Tower of Terror then Rockin' Roller Coaster, then stop at Starring Rolls and grab a bite.

Also wanted to mention,,
if you do the counter service plan then theres no need for hav'n to make ressies and no hassle as to when you eat,,just go when you are hungry,:thumbsup2.

If you do the table service plan , then I would make ressies, Oct tends to be a busy month,:thumbsup2

We are not doing any sort of meal plan-just paying out of pocket. Good to know about Trails End and usually being able to get seated. Counter service at the Contemporary might be another option-I was toying with the idea of making a ressie at Chief Mickey's but we really didn't want to be tied down to reservations this trip.

Is there counter service at the WL? The day we go to MNSSHP we will be hanging out around the fort until late afternoon. I would love an excuse to check out the WL and feed the kids a proper meal before they load up on candy :goodvibes.

Thanks for the info!

Yes, the counter service is down stairs (long slanted hallway) of the lobby.

Putting in a vote here for Roaring Forks at WL. Nice, quick boat ride, good food (sandwiches big enough to split) and you can take your meal outside and eat by the pool. :thumbsup2
