Talk to me about April....

so we're changing the game this year and instead of our annual January trip, it'll be the first week of April....pluses for us are that the kids will be on spring break, pool weather will be better for the kids at the resort, our favorite rides won't be down (with the exception of BTMRR). Although being the ever diligent Dis'er, I've seen warning after warning about going around that time. I know it won't be as quiet as our previous January trips, but is is really at rage inducing levels? With Easter being in March this year I was hoping the crowds would be heading out when we made our way down. Thoughts? Input? Have you done it with your kids before? I figure too, since were fortunate enough to go yearly, it's. It like we're trying to see every single thing in fear we'll miss something.

following along as I would like to know because I am going April 5-12.......:)

Since your week doesn't touch Easter on either side I think you're fine. I went in April last year, also on a week not touching Easter weekend and sure it's busy but it's not maddening. My first trip ever to Disney years ago we went Easter week and it was horrible. 2 hour lines for the bus to leave the park etc.

As long as it doesn't involve Easter April is AWESOME!

Not near as hot or crowded as Summer and the Flower & Garden Festival is wonderful!

The WDW Sun feels so great just coming out of Winter!!!!:)

I would pick (non-Easter) April over January every single time. The weather is better, parks are open later, there are fewer ride refurbs, and there's the Flower & Garden Festival.

I've been the first week in April a couple of times and loved it. As others have said the weather is good, not great for me since I'm southern so still a little chilly but not as much rain. For normal, non-cold natured people it would probably be on the warm to hot side. I haven't noticed it being too crowded but I'm not really sure what too crowded is since we almost always go either late August or early Sept. and either early April or mid-May. F&G is great and well worth going even if there are crowds.

These are making me feel so much better. We are a RD family and usually hit our favorites then, lunch, use FP and then either hop over to another park or go back and swim till dinner. It was a compromise for sure but it was either go in April over the kids break or not at all this year....my little Disney loving heart couldn't take a year off!

We'll be there beginning April 3. My favorite Disney planning website has the crowd calendar at 3/10 that week, but more like 8/10 and 9/10 on the weeks before and after. Hopefully it's correct!
