Talk radio talking heads. Who's your favorite? Who do you hate!

My favorite would have to be my dear step-brother Colin Cowherd on ESPN. Heck, if I said someone else he might find out ;)

Colin is your stepbrother? I used to know him when I lived in Portland. Not well or anything. My Dh worked at the station across town but they did Blazer games together. ETA: I used to go to a lot of the games and hang out with the local press guys.

I have too many friends who are talk show and sports show hosts to pick a fave.

I used to listen to talk radio all the time, but I found that it just made me ANGRY all the time. Whether I listened to NPR or Fox News, didn't matter. There was so much HATRED on the airwaves that I finally stopped listening altogther.

The thing that makes me the most depressed about our political system is how it has degenerated into hatred of the individuals over the last 10 years or so. I didn't always agree with Former President Clinton, but I don't hate him. I don't always agree with President Bush, but I don't hate him either.
My faith teaches me to hate the sin, but love the sinner. I can hate a decision a politician makes, but I'm not going to hate the person. Political talk radio was all about hating the other guy, and that goes against everything I believe in.

I do still listen to ESPN radio though, I like Mike and Mike in the Morning and Dan Patrick.

I like Clark Howard, especially for consumer and scam alerts. I love Chris Krok at night. He cracks me up!

I like to listen to Dr. Laura even though I don't like her philosophies. She gets me all fired up because she is so rigid on her ideals! I don't make any sense, I know.

Dh listens to ALL of the political talk shows. :faint: His favs are Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez on XM 202. I think they are loud, filthy, obnoxious bores. :furious:

Dennis Prager, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck, and heaven help me, Michael Savage. Savage has his rants, and goes waaaayyyyy over the edge, but I love his stories, and even when I don't agree with him, I find him really entertaining. I like him because he's not PC and that is really refreshing in this world of walking on egg shells.

I agree. That is also why I like to listen to Michael Savage. I get so sick of all the PC garbage. Actually, though, I listen to whatever is on when I'm in the car. I don't listen to radio at home.

I  Howard Stern. Worth every penny of my receiver, dock and subscription. I listen to him mostly, even the replays. I love that I can catch whatever I missed. I guess he is political in a way. I don't really listen to any of the truly political talking heads.

I'm a long time listener of Howard Stern's, but did not make the switch when he went to Sirius. I have virtually no commute to work, if I did I would probably have coughed up the $$ to continue to listen to him.

As far as political radio personalities, I'm a yellow dog democrat but sometimes I like listening to Bill O'Reilly. He can be a windbag, but sometimes he makes sense to me. That is a scary thought tho, and probably not something I would admit to anyone I know in real life. :p :teeth:

.

Couldn't have said it any better. What really irks me is the amount of people (talk show hosts especially) that are making big money off the political divide in this country. It's quite scary that some people get all their information through one or two radio shows.

Back to the original question, though. Even though I don't listen to radio talk, I have seen some on TV and I like Neil Boortz and Stephanie Miller. I hate Boortz's thoughts on "government schools", but he is truly independent in his thinking. I caught Miller on Hannity and Colmes last week and she was great. She made every point and handled Sean with a great sense of humor - he was laughing too.

Who do I dislike: Mike Gallagher and Rhandi Rhodes. Gallagher is pompous, arrogant and wrong. Rhandi Rhodes - she's just nuts.

Glenn Beck has really grown on me over the past few years. His show has a great blend of entertainment and commentary.

I wish Neal Boortz was on around here. I used to listen regularly when I lived in GA and caught his show when I used to go down to Norfolk.

Locally, I like to listen to Mac Watson (who has sat in for Glenn Beck a few times).

Hannity is okay, I've gotten bored with Rush, and Savage is good in small doses.

I am a regular listener of the local Buffalo talk radio host, Tom Bauerle. I almost always agree with his viewpoints - I consider him to be a SENSIBLE conservative, although I tend to be very moderate.

I can't stand Dr. Laura and Leslie Marshall.

My absolute favorite is Neal Boortz and of course I adore Rush and Sean Hannity. :)

My favorite is Glenn Beck, he tends to be right on the money and his MORE ON Trivia is some of the funniest stuff. I also have started listening to Jim Reethe (I know I spelled his last name wrong) locally and he is pretty good.

I rarely listen to talk radio, I prefer to listen to music when I'm in the car.

Rush - ugh! The rest of them, right and left, don't do anything for me either.

The world - or at least my little corner of it - needs less politics, not more. I don't listen to any of it. Just music, local news, local sports, and my ipod.

I agree. I find that I'm much happier when I listen to music in the car and while I do my chores. That doesn't mean that I'm uninformed, as I do get the daily paper, and read several from other cities online. I'm just less angry when I'm not listening to someone else.

Reading this thread it's pretty easy to see why the political threads get so ugly. Hate preachers like Rush, Sean, and their equals on the left, only serve to divide and create more controversy. It's really disapointing seeing some of the people on this thread saying they like these guys. :sad2:

Personally I like talk radio, but not the political guys. Howard before Sirius, a local guy named BJ Shea, Bob Rivers, etc.

The only show I never miss is a local sports talk show called Gros with Gas (Dave Grosby and Mike Gastineau). Great points and always very funny. No politics allowed, not even of the sports variety.

Left/Right/Middle...

Larry Elder is at the top of my list right now as my favorite.

I can't STAND Randi Rhodes.
I listen to Bill O'Reilly every day. I can't stand Laura Ingram's voice, so I can't listen to her.

I used to listen to Larry Elder, but now I find him a bit boring. John and Ken are better depending on their current issue. If all else fails sports radio for college football and basketball!

I do like Dr. Laura, but I don't have a radio at work so it's rare that I get to listen to her. I don't agree with everything she says, but most of the time she is spot on. I also enjoy the idiots who call in and just know they are going to get yelled at, yet they still call in? Funny.

I think most of us from either side of the spectrum are good enough thinkers that the hate preachers like Stephanie Miller and Randi Rhodes and their equals on the right don't over-inform our thinking. I am guessing most DISers are beyond "talking points" from either side.

Now as for the really important stuff... sports talk IS just the greatest isn't it?

Plenty of evidence to the contrary and the threads are still there if they are needed. It's only more obvious now that the people that appeared to be quoting these people have no admitted they listen to them.

If you live in Oklahoma or Oregon... not so much right now. ;)
