Talk radio talking heads. Who's your favorite? Who do you hate!

I worked with Neal Boortz, Clark Howard and Sean Hannity for years when I was in radio. Neal and Sean are TOTALLY different from their on air personalities and Clark is exactly what he comes across as, what you see is what he is!

I also enjoy the idiots who call in and just know they are going to get yelled at, yet they still call in?

Listening to talk radio is one thing, once you pick up that phone-you've crossed the line

Does that mean Sean doesn't believe a lot of what he says? :rolleyes1 I've always wondered that about all radio show hosts.

I wish Neal Boortz was on around here. I used to listen regularly when I lived in GA and caught his show when I used to go down to Norfolk.

You can go to WSB online and listen that way. That's what I'm listening to right now.

Neal is my favorite. I'm a choir member of The Church of the Painful Truth. :thumbsup2

Like: Jim Rome, Two Live Stews (listen on the drive home). Sometimes Hannity. Both sports talk shows are at their funniest when they aren't talking about sports.

Can't Stand: Michael Savage. Too disrespectful to his callers. Has terrible nicknames for democrats and other media types. Just call them out by name. He probably couldn't handle it if a caller gave him a nickname. Wish there was someone else to listen too late at night (11:00 pm +).

I love Laura Ingraham, Hannity, Rush, Beck, Bill Bennett :thumbsup2 . Can't stand Randi Rhodes!!!

My favorite would have to be my dear step-brother Colin Cowherd on ESPN. Heck, if I said someone else he might find out ;)

I listen to ESPN radio pretty much all day at work. Colin sometimes drives me INSANE! I really have no idea why. I do like him better than Dan Patrick though. I'm assuming these guys are in Bristol, CT which is right near where I work.

Now I love love love Erik Kuselias on ESPN Radio. He comes on in CT at 4:00 PM, but not on ESPN New York. And unfortunately I live 50 miles from Bristol and can't pick up CT ESPN, I have to listen to the New York station.

I really only listen to sports talk radio. WEEI out of Boston, ESPN and the Fan. I love Chris on Mike and the Mad Dog but can't stand Mike.

Also I listen to Dave Ramsey, but can only take a few days of him at a time.

Re: Glenn Beck - is he the Glenn Beck that used to be on KC101 radio in CT?

The only talk radio I listen to is sports radio, only ESPN out of NY (1050 AM). I love Mike & Mike in the morning (& my company advertises during their broadcasts, so that's kind of neat), like Colin, then we get Steven A. Smith--love love love him! Then Dan Patrick, don't listen to him, then Michael Kay who is my favorite! And he's the voice of the Yankees & I'm a Mets fan. I know he drives some people crazy, but I like him.

favorite is Laura Ingrahm, I cant stand that lady on air america, Stephanie Miller, she trys to be funny and isnt at all/ and of course like Limbaugh and Haninty

I like Laura Ingraham too. She is from Ct.

I don't even know 1/2 the people named on this thread. A lady at work told me about this guy Savage on the radio and how funny he was so I tuned in on my way home from work. I listened for about 5 minutes and heard him call a caller a w+ore because she disagreed with him and I changed the channel. How is that funny? :confused3

Sometimes I listen to Springer on the radio on the ride into work.
The only show I consistantly listen to is a local sports show that is on during the afternoon ride home. They are hillarious.

I listen to him live, then replays. I've been listening to him for years!

I used to listen to talk radio a lot. Then I realized that they're just entertainers. I realized they're just there to keep me listening to the ads that pay the station's bills. What they say is suited only to that purpose, and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the radio host's beliefs or convictions. For him or her, it's an easy way to make a living, and for the radio station, it's a cheap way to get people listening to ads. It's the equivalent of watching a clown at the circus, only with annoying ads interrupting every few minutes.

So I don't listen to talk radio much any more. Every once in a while, I'll tune in for a few minutes on the way to work or on the way home, just to laugh at their mock-earnestness and/or outrage. But mostly, I listen to straight, commercial-free news radio or my CDs.

Did Air America fold? Seems like I read something about them having financial problems. Not that it was my favorite, but I recall listening to Miller and Schultz on Air America back when they were on the air around me.

AS for my favorites... if I listen to talk radio it's mostly sports. I enjoy Jim Rome and a regional show "Primetime with Packman" hosted by Billy Packer's son Mark. Political talk? Rush is OK; Ingraham is a straight shooter.

It was an interesting story last week. A progressive site claimed that Air America was going to declare bankruptcy by Friday of last week, and when Friday came and went without that happening there was serious backpedaling by that site. There's no doubt that Air America isn't atop the leader boards in the ratings war (nor do they look like they'll get there any time soon), but there also not doing as badly as many conservative pundits want everyone to believe.

Again, strictly in the interests of technical accuracy, while they are heard on many stations that are affiliated with Air America, neither Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz have any official ties to Air America and are both syndicated nationally on an independent basis.

I was going to mention that I listen to a good amount of sports radio (never boring, especially here in Boston), and I'll submit the following statement for debate;

24-hour sports radio has ruined the pure enjoyment of sports due to it's ongoing necessity of stirring up artificial controversies for the sake of creating a reason to tune in.

I find that to be true about a lot of news talk/sports personalities. It isn't that they do or don't believe what they say. They just tend to dial it down in real life.

In ATL did you work with Ian Punnett? I used to love his WGST show.
