Hi all ~ I AM BACK! So here's the deal. Since we bought the tent trailer last year, we decided to wait until April 2006 to do Disney again and spend 2004 and 2005 camping in Ontario. My car just died, so that was one more reason to wait for Disney ~ buy the car now and do Disney later.

Okay ~ so here's the thing. I'm turning 40 in November and thought Disney would be a fun place to celebrate the BIG F WORD (F=forty). I need to lose at least 50 lbs, ds needs to grow at least 2 inches taller.

What to do? Go? Wait?

HHMMMMMMM. S

You could always go camping at FW but I say maybe you should wait if you go in 2006 you'll get to experience the new attractions!Plus, I'll bet your son will grow 2 inches (or more) afterall 2006 is 2 years away :) I think that you can lose the weight, you just have to be in the right mindset! Why not stop over by the WISH board? ::yes::

I say go for the big 4-0. I'm planning to celebrate that birthday Dec 2005 in WDW. Not a great time to get away from work but I'm planning it anyway. So, basically I'm biased on this point. :p

Thank Goodness! So you must celebrate, and what better way than at WDW!

But then again, I'll use any excuse to go to WDW!

Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Hi SandraC

It's so hard to decide! I can relate... :)

I'm turning 40 on November 22 and I was thinking the same thing!! (I have about 40 lbs to lose to get back to pre-kids fitness)

Once I decided a month ago that I wanted to go away for my birthday, the vacation planning has been out of control! LOL
Maybe this is a sign of a mid life crisis and I'm in denial? :p

Of course, my first thought was Disney! We don't really have the money now...but I thought if codes come out...drive down...etc. but then after surfing around a bit I decided on driving to Myrtle Beach the week before school starts instead of Disney (prices drop quite a bit for that week and the kids have never been on a beach vacation).

But I couldn't stay away from the boards..and then I booked a Disney cruise for Oct, 2005! :D ...I learnt from lurking around the cruise board that the earlier you book, the cheaper it is (about $2600 US for the whole family). :Pinkbounc

Then checking out the dolphin swims on the cruise board led me to the Discovery Cove website and I thought - wouldn't it be great to take the kids for the dolphin swim at Discovery Cove for their birthdays in May (their birthdays are a couple of days apart). I didn't book it but I know that I will have this in the back of my mind until next spring...

So from all the time surfing for ideas for my birthday, I've come up with all kinds of ideas for vacations...but I haven't made any commitment for November!!

So how crazy is this...with no money and a million other plans...I'm still checking all the time for codes...just in case... :p

Even one major vacation a year is a stretch for us so if we do end up going to Disney in the fall, I would cancel Myrtle Beach.

Good thing I love to plan!

You guys are making me smile. I love that part of the magic you keep from having done Disney is the planning, wishing dreaming, hoping to go back! You all sound just like me figuring out the best ways to fit it all in. Back to your original question, I think spending your 40th milestone birthday at WDW is a great plan. I remember Oprah once was talking about being in a plane that was having major technical problems and there was the real possibility of crashing. She said the first thing she thought of as her mindset was realizing what could happen was "I should of had that chocolate bar before I got on the plane". The point is you never know what life is going to throw at you, look at your situation with your father passing away. I don't mean to make this sound like a downer, but more along the lines of live life to the fullest. It's your life, your fortieth, and do what you want. You can always camp out for a few weekends as well. It is all how you look at it. I don't think there is anything wrong with camping vacations either, some of my most restful times and peaceful memories are of stargazing around campfires. :sunny:

Hey Fiona ... You're not the only one turning 40 Dec 2005 !!! Me too. We were thinking about Oct 2005 for two weeks, and consider it my 40th B-day, and anniversary trip. Since we always drive down, I'm not sure I want to do it in mid-December.

Sandra, I say go for it. Celebrate these milestones in life 'cause ya just never know when you won't see the next one. You can still enjoy your tent trailer here this summer. How tall is DS now? Did you buy your new van/SUV yet? Having a new vehicle to travel down in is a great excuse to go to Disney. :teeth:

Ok Mary Liz -- mine's the 7th when's yours? A co-worker actually turns 40 at the end of November and I keep joking with him how much older he is than me.

Mine's the 17th ! My DH's is on the 20th and he's two years younger  than I am ... for those 3 days every year, he likes to say he's 3 years younger!

Obviously 1965 was a very good year !!!

Mary Liz

Darn that makes me older by 10 days!!! 1965 was indeed a good year. :Pinkbounc

Am determined to spend it at WDW even if it means a really quick trip since mines on a Wednesday!! What rotten timing. Oh well.

Happy 39th this year!!

1965 was, indeed, a good year. Thanks for the idea. I've been trying to think of a way to convince DH that we need to go on another trip. Maybe next February could be arranged.

Kungaloosh!
Mort.

I say go to Disney for your 40th!!! I probably can never go to Disney on my birthday because it is 3 days after our fiscal year end. (Well, I could go for the weekend, but I have to drive so that doesn't really work).

Maybe we should go for my DH's 40th next year also. MaryLiz want to go next April and celebrate both of them??

Sandra, life is too short. We can't of course spend, spend, spend with no thought of how to manage it financially, but sometimes you have to say "What the ______". I forget what movie that's from? Risky Business?? Now, I'm dating myself. I've already had my fortieth and it was horrible, so I say GO TO DISNEY WORLD!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
