Talk me into a cabin.....

For anyone who was curious, the OP posted on a different thread that this post was serious, she was looking for "first hand" info on the cabins having only camped at the Fort (she already got all the generic info, pics and such), and, after the several negative responses she got, she unsubscribed to the thread. That is why she has not come back. She was not trying to stir up anything.

no, she got all her resort friends to come over and do it for her...i smell something foul, must be some soccer cleats

Not me. Check my posts. I just stick up for the little guy. We have a zero bully policy in our schools.

I wish I hadn't seen all that. I'll have to remember not to reply to anything on the recent threads section in case it's accidentally in one of the private club forums.

FYI, the thread I saw was on the community board. And I don't know who she is and have never come across any posts from her during my time browsing the resorts board, so my defense of her just stems from the fact that the same thing happened to me about a week ago on this board. The more posts I read on this board the more it sounds just like those little cliques in high school, you know the ones if you are not part of the club then you don't belong here. I can understand why alot of newbies leave with a sour taste in their mouth about staying at the Fort. Not everyone who asks a question is trying to cause trouble, many are already seasoned campers just looking for advise. Make no mistake, I am still camping at the Fort, but after thinking back to the many nasty responses I received (most by PM) I think I will leave my lime green mickey sign at home. I was very excited to be part of the DIS Camping family, but now I feel a little sad and let down at my "welcome".

What's up with all these posters from other forums? I don't recognize any of them on this thread. I looked up for previous posts for some of them and they never posted on the camping board until now. I think you're right Jen. Something is fishy.

I'm sorry this was your experience as most folks here are quite friendly and try to be helpful.
I do hope you have a good trip, and would look forward to reading your trip report here in the camping forum.

I didn't see the pm's you received, or the first part of your thread that was deleted, but what is there now contained no snarkiness. I enjoyed seeing your Disney interior items. I think you should give this board & its members another chance. The comments on this thread weren't directed at you, so let's move on. Be proud to hang your mickey sign & say howdy to other DISers/Fort Fiends when your paths cross.

I don't have time to read all the posts, so here is the answer to your question:

Kungaloosh:

1/4 cup Blackberry brandy
1/4 cup Capt Morgans spiced rum
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup strawberry daiquiri mix

Blend with enough ice to get slushy. Drink enough to lose an oversensitive attitude.

Resort friends?? I don't get it. I consider the Fort another resort just like all the others. I do know what you mean about some people thinking the Fort is beneath them . I have seen that on other boards. As in "I'm not the outdoorsy type" or "I'm a comfort girl". Same way some people are snobs against the value resorts.

But even if people are trying to start something, which I don't think this poster was, it seems like you would just ignore it. Unless you enjoy bring mean??

Me with my "little number" of posts has not posted much on the DIS precisely because of this type of behavior. I post frequently on another board, I have been reading the camping board here because we are staying in a cabin for the 3rd time this October and I just love reading about the Fort since it is one of our favorite places at WDW. I was under the impression that everyone here was much nicer than in some of the other sections of the Dis. It had really seemed that way until now. I also didn't realize that people who camped hated the people who stay in cabins.

Here are the posts that made the OP so upset. Will someone smarter, not as rude or snarky as me, please explain why? And if you got them, how would you respond?

Your original post doesn't seem rude or snarky in anyway. I totally get what you were trying to say. It's like the people that want an opinion on a certain restaurant in WDW. You're going to get opinions from one extreme to the other. It all depends on the person and what they like. I can completely understand how you can't "convince" someone to stay some place because it's all subjective. But the OP just wanted some firsthand opinions on the cabins and if someone is tired of seeing that asked, why not just ignore the thread? To say "Oh Joy" is just plain rude. And even ruder was the post that said "This the the camping board deary. If you are staying in a cabin, you are not camping." It does in fact in the description of this section talk about the cabins as well. I thought this board was for everyone who loved the Fort, regardless of whether they stay in a tent, RV or cabin. I didn't realize there was a prejudice against the cabin dwellers. :sad2:

Instead of acting like she "needed" to be convinced she could've said tell me about the cabins and what to expect. I see "Tell Me" threads all the time on here. Someone mentioned people on other boards said snarky things about the value resorts as well. I've stayed at values and I've stayed at CR and Beach Club. No matter how fancy the resort is it's still usually 2 beds and a bathroom just like a Hampton Inn or HI Express, it just happens to be sitting on property near 4 fabulous parks.

If you're going to hang on this thread I suggest you get a sense of humor. We joke around on here plenty, but there's not one person on here who wouldn't mind helping somebody out whether they're in a camper, tent or cabin.

I can guarantee more people from other resorts visit the fort for amenities like the HDDR, BYBBQ and campfire movie than we visit your fancy resort.
