McCain WAS the problem, the Republicans didnt run a conservative, they ran an appeaser that tried to get along with everyone, it didnt work for Bush and it didnt work for McCain.
There are a lot of factors for the vote coming out the way it did, among them are:
white guilt
the education system indoctrinating children into liberalism
an uninformed populace
a lazy populace
blacks voting for someone just because of the color of their skin (only wrong if you are white)
an historically ignorant country

I hardly consider the vote a "mandate"

Are we having a bad day, brother?? Thank GOD we don't both hit the board in a raggy mood at the same time.

We went to Lazy Days earlier today to do some dreaming & drooling. Woo-hee....their inventory was a little on the dry side. Mind you, they still had a lot of toys to gander at, but not as many as they used to. They also didn't have a fleet of salesmen like they used to. Camping World next door was virtually empty & they've pulled a lot of inventory that you can pick up at Wal-Mart for a much better price.

A lot of people were eating the free hot dogs & chips lunch at Lazy Days, however! We did talk to one couple that just closed a deal on a toy hauler TT. We also saw a cool Bounder Diesel 38' that had the full body slide with a set of bunk beds in the slide. It's great to see Class A's being set up for family use.

After going thru the Monaco's and H.R.'s, I'll stick to my Winnebago products, thank you very much.

We were going to stop at Parksdale's Produce for a strawberry shortcake on the way home, but the exit off I-4 was backed up onto the interstate due to the Strawberry Festival. We got some Plant City berries at Winn Dixie & will make our own SSC's tonite. Mmmmmmm, GOOD!!!

But seriosly I don't count myself as the all knowing being. But even a half educated country boy like me can tell you that you can't give everything away free to the majority and have the minority pay for it. Some day soon the minority will be broke and then who will pay ?? Our country is already mostly owned by the Saudis and Chineese and its only a matter of time before they forclose on all our credit. If we don't wake up as a nation our way of life really will be gone.

I am facing a simular situation at work now. I have 20 years on the job and recently tested for the position of Captain again. In the past more weight was given for experience. Now they have altered the scoring to give weight to education. And any degree counts now. Not just fire science. Well guess what happened last time. The top 30 candidates had less than 5 years on the job. And were all promoted. By the time they got to the people with real experience the list ran out. Now the test has been given again and the same thing will occur again with even newer people. Our city fire dept will be run by kids that have an average of 4 years experience in fire fighting. But for some reason the Chiefs don't seem to care that it is a recipe for disaster.

It all boils down to this they had to find a way to appease the minority and promote more of certain peoples. Regardless of the risk. Does this sound familiar ??? For me personally this means I will not be able to afford to retire and actually live off of my retirement. I am now planning and looking for a second career to suppliment my income.

I am all for education,,but I believe experience should come BEFORE someone who just read a book. Seriously,,where do they think all that knowledge in the books come from ?? EXPERIENCE !! THAT'S WHERE !!!

But I completely understand and agree with you. More and more of this happening all the time.
I mean, look what America did,,put the least experienced candidate in office of President,,but hey,,he was the youngest, a good speaker, anna real kiss azz to everyone ,,what more do ya need .

I too am for education. But it should only be considered as secondary to real experience. Then it should count less if it is in another field. What does someone with a BS degree in physical education know about firefighting ? On the last test a female candidate with 5 years on the job and no experience in operating a fire truck placed No 1 on the list. She was allowed to skip a rank (engineer) in order to test for the position of Captain and then given extra credit for her degree. Needless to say without a degree and being a higher rank (engineer)with 15 more years experience I came in way behind her and was left standing No 8 on the last list.

I recently had to retest against all new people again. I wonder how this one will go !!! Im waiting on the test results as I type this.

I completely agree with what was posted earlier. Many people voted for You Know Who simply based on his race. If I did that it would be racism. Then many more voted for him just to make up for percieved wrongs done in the past. The nievely think it will repair our image and standing in the world.

I personally think we Americans need to stop trying to please the world. We should have made Saudi Arabia sign an oil price agreement before we protected them from Sadam. Then we need to start charging much more for our grains and food we sell around the world. Guess how much food Saudi Arabia imports each year ??? They would back down if they had to start eating their oil.

I accept that we got ourselves into this credit mess by borrowing more money than we could ever hope to repay. But oil prices sent us over the edge and now they are trying to find ways to send the prices up again. Mainly by cutting production to cause a global shortage. We need to do the same with our products they buy.

As for experience vs education, what a joke - 21 year-old kids will be running places - I've seen it happen before - with catastrophic results.

I think we should jacked the price up on grains to the piont where it cost the Saudi's, and others,,to pay $50. for a loaf of bread,,,see how they like hav'n a piece of their life line being choked,,,(just because we can).
But no, we can't do that, because we are they ONLY country in this WORLD THAT HAS to be politically correct. (course any other country can do as they wish)(and they do)

But thats okay, becuase "he who walks on water" will sit and TALK with these people,,and make everything OKAY.

Actually I think we should have invaded Saudi instead of Iraq - they had a big part in 9/11 ..... it also would have sent the right message to everyone else - plus it would have been a good stepping off point into Iraq if that had been necessary

You have been doing this job about the same amount of time as I have, I firmly believe that you dont need a degree of any type to be a good officer, you need integrity and common sense, unfortunately they dont test for those things, which is why I will retire in 5 yrs as an engineer.
