I don't care if you are a Repub. or a Demo. ,you HAVE TO SEE that they are leading us into socialism ! :confused3

We're already there - not as much as Canada or Western Europe, but we're there already. There are many, many levels.

Be glad we live in a Republic and not a Democracy

In a democracy, the majority rules and there are no limits to that - in a Republic we have a Constitution that limits that. This is very simplistic if you're interested in specifics look at this

Also be glad we have a congress, if the majority truly ruled we'd be the Roman Circus all over again.

:confused3

If we were indeed a democracy, nobody would work - we'd spend all of our time voting on things.

I'm willing to accept a certain amount of socialism as necessary, but communism - not hardly. In fact, communism doesn't work in the long term - look at Cuba and the former Soviet Union. The reality is that health care is in part socialized, and I don't see any other future for it but to turn to completely socialized medicine. We have to get the insurance companies totally out of the picture, though. Otherwise our taxes will be out of sight, the insurance companies will make enormous profits, and your health care will suck.

Now if you gross $200,000.00 you're rich and going to be asked to pay MORE taxes. :rolleyes1 Now don't get me wrong..that's a decent amount of money for sure. However, if you live in the NY metro area...that doesn't go too far. It doesn't make ya rich. Given the price of homes/rent/utilities. That's not your take home pay but your gross. It's just wrong. We heard last week our oil bills will now face an additional tax to keep the county from going broke. Where does this end?...:confused3

Where did you get this $200,000 gross figure from? I called an obama campaign office to ask about his $250,000 number before the election and they didn't know. I have been wanting to know if this was going to be on gross pay or after deductions.

This is amazing. WHERE WERE YOU ALL ON ELECTION DAY! YOU SAW THIS COMING IF YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK, NOW YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT.

I DON'T LIKE IT, BUT WE GOT WHAT WE DESERVED SINCE NO ONE PAID ANY ATTENTION. THEY JUST WANTED CHANGE.

WELL YOU GOT WHAT YOU WISHED FOR.pirate:

I've said it before & I'll say it again....

Obama :worship: touted change...... but he didn't specify what KIND of change.

I paid attention & I tried to vote out incumbants, and I certainly didn't vote for change....but I was in the minority.

Who would have ever thought that someone who has worked hard all their life, paid every cent of taxes due, paid all their bills on time - thus earning a stellar credit rating, obeys the laws, voluntarily helps those down on luck - would be in a minority!!

Well folks, I'm willing to bet most of us on the camping board are in that minority.

Even though I'm not one to re-elect incumbants, I'm going to apologize to our young people for the mess my generation (50+) will be leaving to our kids and grandkids. We were the hippies that only needed love, that transformed into the yuppies that needed Hummer's & McMansions, that have created the society we now live in. I'm talking a collective generation, not individuals.

I liked the camping board a whole lot better when the political BS stayed on the community board.

No matter what you think about Obama his Gallup approval rating is 67%. Most people like what he's doing. I don't happen to be one of them, but he won the presidency by 53-46 margin and the democrats control congress (maybe with a super majority in the Senate depending on Franken). Get used to it - this majority will last for at least 2 more years.

By the way, Representatives have well over a 90% reelection rate - Senators not so much but we keep sending the bums back no matter what people say............. food for thought

Aww Al.. ..we've all got our political opinions here on the camping board. Most of us are starting to feel the effects of this economy as it worsens. :headache: Some of us aren't seeing much "hope" down the road. As the reality of the situation smacks many of us in the face...we need a place to vent. Don't be throwin' us over to the Community Board. Good Lord man..you know they chew you up and spit you out over there. :scared: Folks here..they just want to know that someone..even if it's a virtual friend is listening to them. I'm not sure why..but I know it does help.

I guess you're right. Only 46% is still a whole lot of folks who didn't vote for him. I think as his policies continue to unfold, we're gonna see more "dissatisfied customers". As you say though...at least two more years of demorcratic control. Buckle up campers..it's gonna be a bumpy ride. :sad2:

I now know how the dems felt in 2000 when their guy got more votes and the courts awarded the election to Bush.

If McCain had picked someone besides Palin things might be different now.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

Now you're all on my ignore list now! :lmao: :happytv:

I'm going to ignore virtual gatherings too.......
