Can anyone share their experiences with the talent show?
Is it very serious, or can you do it just for fun...
DH does a mean tap dance to "happy feet" (kermit the frog singing) but he does not actually "know" how to tap dance...
it's hilarous....

I would like to know when the rehearsal is for this show.

From what I understand, you sign up early in the week and there is a mandatory rehearsal at some point. There is a limited number of spots I believe. Other than that, I am still learning about it as well.

We have 3 girls who want to dance to a song from the Disney movie Newsies when we go on our September cruise.

I watched the talent show last year with only about 15 others, if that. It seemed very laid back. One little girl did a dance to Under the Sea...four boys bounced basket balls (they lost them quite often and they went rolling a way, it was very funny) to the rap song "basket balls" and the last guy did some Martial Arts, he was asked to perform again. I think that is all that performed, but we would have missed the begining. I do not think any one "won" I think they all got medals.

The talent show ranges from a 3 year old bouncing a ball to a teen playing a piano concerto to family singing groups, etc. On our last cruise, there was a good ballerina and a good gal on piano.....a singing family was ok, and the rest was so much junk.

Basically, you sign up at the cruise excursion desk early in the week. There is a very short mandatory rehearsal--that's so they can make sure that you have whatever equipment might be needed, etc., and work out any bugs. For kids who haven't practiced all week, it is a good thing. Then there is the show.

We've done 10 Magic cruises. We've seen some excellent performers and some total nonsense---all are welcome. It's very low key and low pressure. It is not a contest....strictly a show. They have 12-15 participants each week, and it's limited by the order in which you sign up, not by quality of presentation. So...your son would be welcome.
