Planning our December trip and doing all new restaurants. Have never done Takumi or Morimoto and want to do one.
which would you pick and why?

Takumi-Tei hands down, but it hasn't reopened yet so we are eagerly awaiting its return. It's fine dining and a great experience with top quality dishes and even a selection of Japanese whisky. One of a very few number of true fine dining establishments at Walt Disney World.

Takumi Tei is reopening on November 23.

OP, it really depends on what type of atmosphere and food you are looking for. Morimoto Asia is more casual and lively with a variety of Pan-Asian dishes. Takumi Tei is an upscale, Japanese restaurant. They are both very good, IMHO, but Takumi Tei is more of an experience and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous.

So excited about the reopening!

I’m mostly saying the same as the previous poster

TT is quiet and upscale - with amazing food. It feels beautifully Japanese. I have only dined there once - but it was lovely and I’m anxious to go back. I had the Omakase and it was delicious - I guess just as a personal preference I would have liked more fish and less meat - and the water cake was beautiful - but kind of meh for taste. I plan on ordering a la carte next time so not really an issue.

Morimoto is also great. I go on most trips. But it’s definitely loud and not intimate. Something to note is that sushi options are v limited during lunch. If you go you may want to request a booth. Service can feel ever so slightly rushed at times would be the only real negative.

That's awesome! We're there in December so definitely time to return. Probably our favorite dining after Victoria & Albert's in terms of an upscale experience.
