taking wine to dinner

I really enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner, but I'd like to bring my own wine. I've heard on some posts about just bringing a glass of wine from your stateroom to dinner. Do you just walk down the halls with a glass of wine or do you have to have it in a 'concealed' container and bring a glass to pour it in once you are at the restaurant? I've also heard that you can bring a bottle of wine and pay a $20 corkage fee. If you don't finish the bottle, will they bring it to the next dinner meal, or does it have to be bought from them? Is there another corkage fee? If this service is available, are there specific limits to the size of the bottle (ie. 750 ml vs 1.5 l)?

DCL requests that any alcoholic beverages brought onboard only be consumed in your room, not public areas. You may bring a bottle of wine to dinner to be served for at $20 corkage fee. There are those who say "I fill my glass in my room, and carry it to the MDR, no problem". Yes, you can do that, but that's not what DCL asks.

AFAIK, your bottle of wine can follow you to your next MDR, but I could be wrong. I know if you purchase DCL wine, it will, but not sure about private wine. Only one corkage fee per bottle, on first serving. I don't think there's a corkage fee on wine purchase through DCL. Sorry, don't know if there are size limits.

Q:May Guests bring alcohol onboard?
A:While adult Guests ages 21 and older may bring alcohol onboard, the following guidelines apply:
•Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
•Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.
•Beverages must be packed in your carry-on bag—which must not exceed 22 inches wide, 14 inches high and 9 inches deep in dimension
•Coolers filled with personal items (e.g. soda, alcohol, chips, candy, etc.) may not be brought on board.

Please note: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

Carried mine to dinner as well. Get a glass from the bar, wash it yourself in your cabin. Never had a issue with it either.

Interesting. Thanks for asking the question. I have been pondering this as well. Someone recommended the cheese platter from room service. Might do that with wine in the room before dinner and see it I am brave enough to bring a glass with me to dinner.

I like to start dinner with a glass of white. I would bring my glass of white and a bottle of red. I paid the corkage on the red. Never a problem.

I have always gotten glass from the bar and carried it the MDR every night and have never had any problems ok 9 cruises.

I have room service bring me up four wine glasses at a time so I always have a clean one. I also take a glass of wine with me to dinner every night.
yup, some folks will frown on this but it works for me so that's what I do. no one can tell that this is what I have done. never had an issue and doubt I ever will.

I don't want to be accused of encouraging a no no but I had our room steward bring me a glass for each day (he brought them all at once and left them in the room for me) and I took my wine to dinner every night. No one knew I hadn't gotten it in the bar and people carry glasses around the ship all the time. You don't know where they got their drinks either.

Thanks all...I think I will bring a glass of wine with me to each meal...will be as discreet as possible.
And I can't wait to enjoy a glass of wine with the cheese platter on the verandah in the evenings!!!! My 'wind down' time!

I had read the boards before I went and saw how easy it was to bring wine with you. So that is what I had planned on doing.
Then I saw they had all these yummy "drinks of the night" and I decided to keep the wine in my room and treat myself to the drink of the day every night. I decided to skip Bingo to make up the cost but it was worth it to me.

Other people in my party brought the wine from the room to the dinner table and no one ever said anything.
