Taking walk ups at Skippers Canteen today?

Only thing I'm disappointed in is that I don't see anything vegetarian on the kids menu. There's never anything on the healthy kids menu vegetarian either which is frustrating. Otherwise, looks good.

The restaurant looks amazing
Eh. With BOG, the conversion of Tusker House, and now with SC it seems like they're moving toward this multi-purpose cafeteria-like arrangement rather than dedicated restaurant space. I can see where some of the rumors about it being CS for lunch came from. I know that different people have different levels of affordability but it seems like a lot of spaces these days are being built this way adding more fuel to the "dining has really gone downhill" concerns. I was hoping that since BOG is so big and already had this low-end table service idea staked out in Magic Kingdom that we'd get something in the moderate range.

I predict the place will crash and burn with that menu. I give them 3 month before they "rework" it. That kind of food does not appeal to the masses at WDW.

I, personally, wouldn't eat there and I like a lot of differing kinds of food. Most of this sounds awful to me. The kids menu is laughable.

The menu doesn't look like anything special to me. I guess I expected more seafood and/or exotic items. I will still give it a try though!

I was hoping that the menu would offer something which my very "picky" DH might try. There are a couple which I think he'll like so I am a happy camper...yay! Can't wait to try this in April!

Going next week and curious about signing up for "walk up" Park opens at 7:00am, can we sign up then for lunch or do we need to wait until lunch....

Im also wondering the same thing :) we're considering going tuesday for lunch now, and we have 8:00am BOG breakfast reservations already made. wondering if we should stop by SC on our way to breakfast to inquire or if we need to come back later in the morning. Wouldn't surprise me if a line started earlier in the morning JUST to sign up for dining reservations

I really like the kid's menu, it looks like it has a much better variety of foods then a lot of the kids menus tend to. My only issue is there is no basic choice for the extremely picky kid, I was thinking the mac and cheese, but realized it has meat in it so it won't work.

It looks gorgeous inside and I really like the adult menu, so I may try for an ADR in January.

more than 1 vegetarian option! I'm excited. It looks like a great addition to the park, and finally something to keep me in the park to eat. I'm hoping they don't dumb it down by the time I'm back, goodness knows there is enough generic options in MK

You may be right. I hope you're not. This is right up my alley, and I see multiple entrees that my "burgers & fries" son would eat as well.

I think the menu looks interesting and hope that it doesn't get "reworked" for the masses. There are plenty of places at WDW to get a burger, fried chicken, and other "less adventurous" dishes. Plus not everything on this menu is different... there's a steak, and a steak salad after all.

It was very good. Skipper Morgan said the vegetable curry was one of her favorites. The mac and cheese is like a greek pasitisio but with different seasoning. I would order it again.

I have no doubt that the menu may be "reworked" in a couple of months, most new restaurants do. I c an't wait to try each and every dish!! People say "give us something new and different" then say there is nothing on the menu to try. Who doesn't like steak? Vegetarian option, new desserts? Don't like it, don't go, but don't slam it because it isn't your taste. How beautiful are the rooms? I think this is great, and am so glad I am not a park planner. The internet negativity would kill me! :)

I'm excited to try it! At first blush, the menu reminds me of the Yak & Yeti TS in AK. And that's not a bad thing at all. But in AK, Yak & Yeti has struggled to carve out a niche market because of Rainforest Cafe (a sister Landry's restaurant). RFC in AK is an easy, predictable no-brainer for families with young children who want more main stream entrees. And they have a huge menu. Since RFC is all over the place, most families have already tried it and if they liked it, they liked it. An easy choice with young kids at the end of a tiring, busy park day. But at Skippers, I think having pics of some of the entrees is absolutely critical. Less adventurous families will want to see that the chicken is "chicken" and the steak is "steak." Although I agree with some of the PPs that a few of the more unique items (particularly in the appetizer category) will be dropped within 2 months (and some of the more interesting steak marinades may need to be dropped in favour of more straight-forward butter "knobs"), for many families this menu will appeal much more than BOG dinner. I think BOG is still at a higher price point for many of their entrees. The atmosphere at Skippers looks more relaxed and this could be more welcoming to a lot of families than the BOG dining room. This is gonna be a win-win for all TS guests in the Magic Kingdom. Something new for us to try while hopefully funneling guests & demand away from BOG dinner. But guessing that the servers are going to get pretty tired of the stock question of "Is it hot? Is it spicy? I don't like spicy." :-)

For those wondering how the walk up seating is set up: you cannot stop in and reserve a table for a later time (at least not today - this could change for future dates). I stopped at 3:00 to ask about getting a table at 5:00 and the hostess kindly explained that they are not holding tables. You must come by at the time you wish to eat and be seated (or wait in line).
