Silly question but do you keep the towel animals or is that like stealing? I know if you take any towels or cloths home with you then that is stealing so I am assuming you just leave these also when you check out.

You will get many different opinions on this one. We got lots of towel animals in 2005 at POP Century and didnt ever take any of them home. After I got back from that trip there were many posts of people who asked mousekeeping if they were allowed to take them and the response was yes. When we went in 2006 we did bring home a small bird that we got at the WL. It is sitting on my computer desk right now while I type. Its so cute. Im sure many people will post and say absolutely no you should not take them and others who will say that they had been told yes. Anyway, right or wrong, I have a small bird- smack me around if you want.

I have been wondering the same thing. We were there in September and received 4 different towel animals. We didn't take them home because I didn't know if we were supposed to or not. Plus, I really didn't have room anyway.

The only time I considered taking a towel animal was when we were there for Easter and got a little bunny (wash cloth) in which the eyes were drawn on. I figured it wouldn't be used again as a washcloth so we did take it home as a memory. We do tend to take pictures of our towel animals, and they come home with us.

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and received four towel animals while we were there. I had wondered if we were allowed to take them home or if we were to just take pictures and be happy we got them. So.....I left our mousekeeper, Mercedes, a note asking the policy on this. She said we were welcome to take them home with us. I also asked at the conceirge desk and they told me the same thing.

The large rabbit we received was sitting on a roll of toilet tissue so at Easter I am going to bring her out for display. We also received a Dumbo and two small bunnies.

Each time we asked and they said yes...so we have a display case full of the towels.

When we stayed at POP, we got some really cute towel animals. I sort of wondered the same thing. But then again, I don't need more stuff at my house collecting dust, so I just took a picture and left them there :)

What a surprise these replieswere! My first thought on reading the post was, "of course you can't take them!" but I am flabbergasted that when everyone asked the resort personnel, they said you can! It would have never occurred to me that they could be kept!

We received a couple really cute Christmassy ones when we stayed at the Grand Floridian this past Xmas. I asked a concierge CM and she said "Take them home! They're yours to keep!" That's good enough for me.:thumbsup2

I was at CSR around easter and had also gotten the cute lil bunny. i asked the same thing and was allowed to bring it home.

We asked our mousekeeper about this on checkout morning since she was in the hallway nearby. She said "Oh yes, they certainly are for you to take home." Then she told me to wait a minute and went back to her cart where she gathered up 3 or 4 more towel animals and told me take those with us, also. I said "Are you sure" and she insisted they should go home with us.

I thought I would follow up on this so I asked again at the front desk and was told the exact same thing. This was from a person who was a supervisor. I would never have taken them otherwise but the employees I asked said the towel animals were meant to be taken when you checked out.

You can keep them!?!?!?!?! I should of asked. I had 7 of them last trip at CSR and my GF kept telling me to take some of them and I declined.
I tried to take apart one of them and put it back together but I failed miserably.

You can keep them!?!?!?!?! I should of asked.

I would never have even thought to ask myself but a couple of people in rooms close to ours mentioned they had been told they could keep theirs. That's what prompted me to ask. I know you don't take the towel animals on cruise ships so I figured it was the same policy at the resorts. I was surprised to be told otherwise.

I asked last year at AKL and was told to take them there were made for our enjoyment.

So we also have a little birdy at home

Well I will have to remember this for the next trip. We just took pictures also.

IMO would never take a towel animal...pictures do fine. It is a cost of ordering more towels for replacement, which makes all total costs go up. Time for housekeeping to make a new animal, cost of someone to inventory towels, order new towels...etc

You do what you want, but I personally would never take one(even if someone was told that they could take one).

When we stayed at CBR a couple of years ago the mousekeepers left some elaborate towel animals with a note to my dd's saying that they should take them home. We took a couple, not all of them.

Oooh, must remember this for next time! I would've loved to have taken my towel turkey home!

I would guess that the cost of those towel animals going to "new homes" has already been calculated by Disney and is in their marketing plan. I am sure we all paid for those towels. I have never taken any, but I will be taking any home that I receive on our next trip. If Mousekeeping says yes, the manager at the front desk say yes, then I say "yee ha"!

I guess it goes right along with using the coffee they supply in the room, you don't get a credit if you don't use it, or the shampoo etc they supply. Some things are including in the cost of the room, I bet the towel animals are included in that cost as well. If people stopped taking them home, I would be willing to bet we wouldn't see a discount in the room prices because mousekeeping isn't creating/washing/buying towel animals.

I say, congrats to anyone who receives the "gift" of a towel animal !

During our December trip we stayed in a 2 bedroom at BCV and had lots of towel animals. However, the only one we brought home with us was the one the mousekeeper made for my niece who was celebrating her Sweet 16, we had put up Sweet Sixteen banners throught the room and had one on our door. When we returned one evening we found on the entryway table a towel birthday cake, wrapped in gold ribbon and complete with a pipe cleaner 16 in the middle! This was too special to leave behind and now sits on my niece's dresser.
