Just wondering how many out there take the train to Florida -- specifically the Kissimmee station? We are planning our trip for February 2008 :cool1: and the train fares are cheaper than flying :thumbsup2 However I know we will have to figure out transportation to and from the station to our resort (POP). I have contacted Happy Limo to see about availability and rates. But I'm wondering if anyone has experience with other car services in the area. Thanks!

We've taken the train quite a few times now and I've done the Kissimmee station but this last time we did the Orlando station because they have a Hertz Rental counter right inside the terminal. If you arrive before 8pm they are staffed and I believe there was a procedure if you arrived after that but I did not. We were able to simply drop our keys in a lock box upon returning to the the station as the counter was closed during our trip back home. I got a rental car pretty close to the cost of a roundtrip transportation and my price was for the WEEK! It made Pop all that much more fun for us too cus we didn't have to take the busses. I think there was a twenty or thirty dollar difference between the cheapest transportation company and a weekly rental. Just a thought.

Over all I love taking the train. I think it's a unique way to travel to FL and we always arrive so relaxed. I hope you enjoy it. Bring your own food if you aren't in a sleeper. In a sleeper it is included but if not you pay so much money for really average food. The time I packed our own food my family loved it.

Thanks for your suggestion, Densgirl but I don't really think I want to rent a car. Except for my last trip, I've always driven down to Disney. And once the car is parked, it has never moved until we leave to go home! I've always relied on Disney transportation and, so far (knock wood!), have never had any problems with it.

Thanks for the reminder about bringing food -- the dining car is pricey if you don't have a sleeper! I took the train out to CA a couple of years ago and had a sleeper, but that was a 3 day trip. To FL it's a bit over 24 hours so I think we'll be fine in coach.

the last time we took the train, we arrived at the orlando station. we had made arrangements with sunrays service. they were used 3 times on our 1 trip. excellent service, reliable, clean, very professional.

we are still debating on taking the train or driving this next time. but if we use the train ever again, we will always go with sunrays.

we usually take the train into orlando on our trips. a few years back there were more cabs around, but the last few years we see prob. both cabs and some shuttle vans. we just grab one of the shuttle services , i cant remember what we paid, but we always use them to get to the all stars. we dont rent a car when we are there. my husband doesnt want to drive , hed rather relax. and also a couple of trips i did pack some snacks in a small rolly case. we had my dd and friends. so we brought some crackers, cookies, etc stuff that i know we like and of course we bought food and drinks to. we have taken the train alot, cause i really dont like flying. we normally arrived just a little later, one time train ran a few hours later. but , we never had any major problems.
