My DW and DD will be taking the Amtrak train (not the Autotrain) from Boston to Disney in Aug. Does anyone have any info or experience with this ? Thanx in advance.
We found the long-range train trips a bit too grueling for us. We did Boston to Chicago, which is a different routing, but I believe the same rolling stock is used.

I did this around 5 years ago (just after 9/11) and as bicker said, it's a looong trip! Left Dedham/Rt. 128 station around 6am and arrived in Deland about 26 hours later. Had to change trains in Washington (2 hr. layover) but other than that it was an uneventful trip. Went coach, but didn't get much sleep...
I just checked Amtrak's site this morning for August and it costs less to fly out of Portland, ME than it does to take Amtrak from Wells, ME. Right now, there are RT flights for $182 out of Logan for August. You might want to look into flying as it could be cheaper. The train is cool-I love train travel-but it's 20+ hours and there aren't sleeping compartments.
