I haven't booked yet, because I want to make sure I can swing the trip, but I am 80% positive I am going to make my first trip to DLR!! It won't be until October, but I am starting to think of things I need to get done.

The first question that comes to my head is...

Is there a bad time to be at DLR in October?? I know for WDW the Columbus Holiday is pretty crowded, but is it the same there??

At least where I'm at in CA Columbus Day barely makes the radar. The main event to watch out for with regards to Disneyland and October is UEA (Utah Educators Association conference = Utah Escapes to Anaheim). From their calendar it appears to be Oct 15 & 16 this year so might want to avoid that week all together.

Thanks...I was particually looking at going either the 7th-13th or 20th-26th.

We've gone numerous times in Oct and this year we are switching to Aug due to the crazy increase in Oct crowds. If we were going this year it would be 10/7-10/11, we always go the same time each year. A few things to keep in mind: 10/12 is a holiday for some and it will be surprisingly busy (last year certainly was), CHOC Walk is on 10/11 and it will be busy that day from all the added "walkers", 10/10 will be super busy since it's a Sat so lots of locals, 10/9 will likely be MHP so the park (not sure which one it will be in this year) will close early that night therefore pushing everyone over to the other park. 10/8 crowds should be ok and 10/7 should be really enjoyable but likely a MHP that night also.

I was thinking about using one of my days to go to MHP...that is what I usually do at WDW. I take one of my days and not go to the parks and take the evening and go to MNSSHP. I guess I have to ask my good friend if she would like to go first and see when she would like to go. I know October is a good time for us to go.

Thanks everyone for the advice. With the holiday being near the end of the proposed dates, it might not be as bad. I do know that we are going to be staying offsite at a good neighbor hotel just to save some money, since the flight will be about double what we would spend going to WDW.

No, it's Mickey's Halloween Party at DLR. Slightly different re: parades and suchlike.

We're going the week of the 4-9 and plan on doing a MHP for sure (young kids and all). I'm hoping it'll be a slower week due to the timing, but nevertheless, it's the kids' birthday week so we're going anyway.

If you're going this year, things might be different than in years past. Disney mentioned at the presentation of the 60th anniversary stuff that it would be running the 60th anniversary programing this year in place of holiday programing. We have no idea if or how this might impact holiday parties this year, so don't get set on doing a party until you hear from Disney that they are for sure running them this year at Disneyland.

Thanks for the info!! Usually when I plan a little later than most. I kind of have to wait until the local hockey teams schedule comes out for the season. That way I can definitely know the dates.

The 60th is kind of why I want to go to DLR. I have been to WDW many times, but never to DLR. It is something on my bucket list and this year is the perfect time to mark one thing off my list.
