Taking own mobility scooter from UK

Hi Everyone

I am coming over from the UK to my home resort of Saratoga Springs later this year (DVC) member and want to bring my own mobility scooter ( Pride gogo elite 3). Does anyone from the UK know if I need to get a power adapter to charge my scooter or if a simple travel adapter plugged in to the end of my current UK power lead will work?

I think you will probably need a power adapter, but I'm not 100% sure.

You might want to ask on the forums at www.wheelchairjunkie.com . The guy who runs the site works for Pride so he should be able to tell you for sure what you'll need.

I have a Pride Celebrity-X. The charging unit says 110-240V. There is a small slide switch on it. One one side is the socket for the power cord, a label that says 115 Volts and the on-off switch. Peeling off the label exposes the slide switch. I am going to DLP next month and all I need is an adapter from the American plug to the European plug. So if you have the same type of charger all you need is an adapter to plug your power cord into that will plug into a US outlet.

Check the rating plate on your charger if it has the range 110 to 240V then you only need the 3 pin to 2 pin UK-US adapter plug to use it in the US. If it doesn't have this range and only operates on 240V you will need a US charger.

A little tip if you are bringing other gadgets that require to be charged use a UK multi plug extension lead that way you only need one US adapter and one socket for them all. Just be sure you don't overload any one socket.

Mine in the US has a three pin (grounded) plug. If yours has the switch and a three pin plug, be sue the US adapter you get is three-pin to three-pin. This is a safety need.
