Taking over someone's ADR?

A family we are meeting up with was going to cancel so we want to take their ADR - do I need to call Disney and change the name or is it good enough that I have the conf. # and same # of people in our party? I'm almost afraid to call and mess something up! thanks.

Your best bet is to have someone call and change the name on the reservation. Just call and tell them the #. They will change the name and the confirmation # will stay the same.

Well, I would say don't bother changing it. In all the times we've checked in at a WDW restaurant with ADRs, we have only been asked for the last name. I always have my confirmation # just in case, but have never been asked.
That said, there IS a rumor going around that WDW will be checking ID to make sure people match the ADR the're using, but I personally think it's, well, just a rumor!
