What is the best way to take Peyton's formula without it spoiling or it getting too warm? Should I take the powder and water separate? If so, what is the best way to store them in the diaper bag?
Thanks!
:confused3

I would take the powder and water separately. It's easy enough to take a couple bottles of water in the diaper bag and put a couple scoops of formula into a sandwich baggie. Mix in a baby bottle as needed. Take two bottles and wash them out in a sink between uses. Or use playtex disposable nurser bags(or the equivalent)

If your baby is used to drinking cold milk, you could make up the bottles ahead and carry a small soft-side cooler with you. :earboy2:

We just got back from WDW with our DD who turned 3 months while there. I am BF'ing so I spent quite a bit of time in the Baby Care Centers. They offer microwaves in there if needed and I'm sure you could wash your bottle out. I would take either the powder and mix as needed or the ready to use cans.

I didn't use formula, but having friends and family who did and traveling with them, this is what I think would work best. Use the Playtex disposable nursers this way you only have to bring 1 'bottle' frame. Fill the little baggies with powder in the room before you go to the parks for the day. The regular Playtex baggies you would need to use twist ties for, but they make others with a Ziploc type top, I think mine were Medela. Then just bring a few bottles of water, or buy them as needed in the parks, and when your baby is ready for a feeding, just slip the baggie with the formula powder over the bottle frame, pour in your water, and shake it up! This way at the end of the day you aren't carting back tons of bottles to be cleaned. I would toss in a few nipples so that you don't have to worry about cleaning them perfectly after each feeding-you can rinse them or clean them as best as you can in the parks, then do a better cleaning once you get back to the resort.

Also, not sure about every baby care center, but the one in AK has an Avent steam sterilizer, so maybe you could stop in there a couple of times and throw the nipples in since you probably won't be able to clean them as well in the parks/resort as you can at home. We used this to clean my daughter's pacifiers a few times since I'd normally run them through the dishwasher at home so I didn't feel they were as clean with my handwashing in the resort sink.

Keep the powder seaprate. Also, so that you do not have to bring the whole container of powder you can get a dispenser that can hold four premeasured servings. The one we used to use was round and divided in to 4 sections to put the poweder in. When you need a bottle just empty on section, add water, warm as necessary, and feed baby.

This is what we did when DS was little! The dispenser was also great for holding individual servings of the dry cereal as he got a little older. In fact, we always get them for our friends whenever they become new parents. They make great shower gifts!!!

You can also buy individual packets of pre-measured powder (4 oz). Both Enfamil and Similac sell them. I buy them at Target. They are more expensive, but I just use them for outings. The slip into your d-bag very easily.

My pediatrician had free samples. We would save them for travel.

I put my formula in the little 2 ounce tupperware containers. They are a great size and pour very easy into my playtex disposable bottle. I would also just travel with one bottle but bring enough nipples and water for the day so I would only have to clean them at the end of the day. I would carry two ziplock bags one for clean nipples one for dirty nipples. Also, don't forget dish soap to clean them in. The 2 ounce tupperare containers work well for dish soap too.

Do they sell regular spring water inside the parks or just Dasani water? You probably wouldn't want to use Dasani. Nothing wrong with it, but it might make the milk taste weird. (I used it to make hot tea once :crazy2: )

Ya know, we're not huge fans of Dasani either, but I've never noticed it to have a different taste. That's interesting to hear. We prefer sparkling or real spring water, not just filtered water, that is if we're paying for it, which is why we're not crazy about buying Dasani. Seems like a waste at home since we own a Brita filter, but we do buy it in WDW and have never noticed any difference in taste.

If you've ever tasted the Enfamil, the Desanti isn't going to make much difference. Likewise, we got a few handfuls of the premeasured powder-packs from our pediatrician's office. We called them Baby Shooters. They were great for traveling and were so easy to use.

My baby will be 10mos when we go. I'm planning on bringing the ready to use cans. For the hotel I will bring the powder. I use Similac and I find it hard t0 mix if the water isn't warm enough. I don't want to have to find a baby center everytime he's hungry. The little cans are $$ but the convenience is worth it.

I am so happy to see this thread! DD will be almost 3 months old when we go to Disney for her first trip in December. She eats ready to feed Enfamil now and we bought a box of those "shooters" for trips out. We have not fed her powder yet but I am sure and hoping it won't make a difference.
This makes life so much easier than having to keep a bottle cold.

Similac sells formula in 8oz cans. More expensive for sure, but the convenience may be worth it. You just pop it open when you need it and pour it into a bottle.
Enjoy your trip!

I would bring your own water. IF you buy it at the parks it may be icy cold and you will have to spend alot of time warming it. It is also cheaper to bring your own. I never used the bottle liners. I would usually prefill my bottles with water and I had a small tupperware container that I would keep formula in and mix when needed. I would also have a bottle of water in my bag as she was thirstier than usual. I would wash out the bottle and make a little more if needed. I got both my girls used to room temp. water so that I never had to warm bottles. They always seemed to tolerate it well if it was a little warmer from the sun. Good Start is the only brand of formula I recall seeing. There may be others.

Definitely try the premade before you go if your child is used to using the powder. We travelled once with it and used the premade and my 6 month old daughter didn't like it. Luckily we had the powder with us as well!

Both my dd's did fine with the powder and I always fed the girls formula at room temperature not warm anyway. Since I also BF and that was room temp it made sense to me!!

So, although I hadn't planned it this also made travel easier. I had the container with the 4 compartments you could premeasure the powder into. I would then carry a couple baby bottles of water to mix. Mixing the powder into the water worked better for me than adding the water to a bottle with powder in already, just leave enough room. I never had a problem mixing it at room temp. My sil got some of the premeasured tubes but IIRC they were pricey. Single serve cans would also work but depending on the size and how much a 2mo is taking at a time you could have some waste.

Don't forget to take advatage of the baby care centers - a great place to relax and pick up anything you may need.

For DS we used both the powder in that divided container and the shooters, with bottled water at whatever temp it happened to be.

For DD we also used the single serve cans. I got a bunch from the drs and found them to be convenient, if a bit heavy.

Good luck! You'll have a fun trip. :)

we took our dd when she was 3 months then again at 6 months the first trip we took just ready made the second trip we took powder and ready made. The cans were so easy just throw a few in a bag and you are ready. We also took our own bottle warmer for the room. We also packed both reg bottles and the one with the bags that way we only had to wash the nipples. They do sell formula in the parks but they only sell carnation. Have a wonderful trip!
