Hello all

been a while since I've been on here but thought I'd pop back as im planning a suprise trip for my wifes 30th bday this year. We both love orlando but cant make it so far afield at the moment so thought DLP would be a good bet. Was considering late november but now thinking late jan/early feb as tower of terror should be open. Both huge fans of that ride and its her favourite so worth the wait I feel. However the price seems to spike dramatically post christmas so does anyone have any tips on operators etc that have good offers please? just looking for a 2 or 3 night trip really dont mind if its train/car/coach.

Been reading through the various faq's. very useful info but any extra tips are always welcome :)

thanks all

Rhys

Hi rhysd2 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

Normally the lead up to Christmas is more expensive than January and February :) Might be worth having a look at disneylandparis.com and pricing up the holiday elements separately :goodvibes

Great to "see" you again Rhys :)

Reid's suggestion of checking disneylandparis.com is a good one. If you can book before the end of September, then you should get a discount on packages for trips starting between the 6th to 30th January. This is for the onsite hotels - is there a particular hotel you were thinking of trying?

Hi Becky and Reid :)

Thanks for the tips Im going to trot off to the website now and check the individual prices. Best i've found so far is £170 ish for 2 nights 3 days on the coach with bakers dolphin in either the santa fe or the cheyenne including park entry.

Hotel wise im not really picky. dont mind being a distance from the park but do want to be on site. And the cheaper the better. we're going to be spending most of our time in the parks anyway. So luxuries like a swimming pool etc would be wasted on us.

Would prefer 3 nights 4 days though so will have to wait and see what crops up

ho hum seems the eurostar want £65 each way for the two of us so £130 total either way I do it no matter what dates I choose. the hotel for 3 nights is £300 ish which isnt bad but will see what the coach company comes up with as it could be a fair whack cheaper as on top of the eurostar ticket i'd have to get to st whatsit in london first.

How about one of the budget airlines - from Bristol perhaps? Though you then have to remember to add on approx. £23 per person for transport from and to CDG (or Orly) airport.

We booked through Eayjet for our flights because it worked out a lot cheaper than Airfrance.

luv

*slaps forehead* didnt even cross my mind to check easyjet. looking cheaper than eurostar.

how do you book transport from CDG to DLP in advance or is it a case of choose a taxi when you get there?

and is it £23 each way per person or each way for both etc?

To travel between CDG and the airport you can prebook a private shuttle/taxi for about 80 euros each way. That is the most expensive option if there is just two of you, but it's also the easiest! It's better to prebook rather than just getting into a taxi when you arrive.

Or you can use the VEA, which is what I based my prices on. It costs 16 euros per person each way. This is a dedicated DLP hotel coach service and offers almost door to door service.

Another option is the TGV which costs from approx £11 per person each way, depending on how early you book your ticket.

Have a look at the "Travelling to DLRP by Plane" thread in the Very Useful Info sticky, for more details and links to websites. :)

oh how blinking annoying. seems i can only book upto december on the train link to DLP. thought it was worth the extra few quid as its significantly faster.

also any idea when i can book the train tickets? thanks

just did a price test by choosing dates in november. was £46 return for the two of us by train from cdg! is that about norm? considering the coach is going to be £42ish total for the 2 of us thats pretty good

I've used the UK TGV site which allows you to book up to 90 days before you travel. Hopefully the £11.50 tickets will be available, but if you can't get any then the VEA is still an option as you pay for that when you board.

The TGV journey itself is much quicker - 10 minutes compared to about 45 mins. But you have to take into consideration when the next train is after you land - they are not as frequent as the VEA shuttle. Allow at least an hour after you land, to get to the train. I don't know which airlines suits you best, but I do know that Easyjet use Terminal 3 at CDG.

thanks Becky

theres virtually no price difference between the coach and train if the prices are roughly the same so the trains a definite yes there I feel. The train stations under terminal 2 and cdg isnt it?

one other quick question. looking like we'll be at the santa fe as the cheyenne isnt booking on the dates im looking at. fri 25th to mon 28th. those dates seem the best tie up between easyjet and the hotels price wise.

I was looking at rough costs of food whilst there. can anyone please advise on the meal deals they offer at booking? are they pretty good value? It seems at the santa fe and cheyenne you can only have the standard meal package on the site. can you pay more to get the upgraded one? or are you only able to get the standard? and are the restaraunts on offer worth it or are be better off just pciking and choosing ones where we fancy or at the disney village etc?

thanks

It's me again!!!

I know very little about it myself, but there are some threads about the Half Board plan on here somewhere - I just can't find them at the moment!! DLRP magic have a page of useful info on it too. Probably a good idea to have a look at the menus on the DLP foodguide, to see where and what you would like to eat, and then work out if the HB plan is worth it.

And yes, the station at CDG is sort of in the middle of Terminal 2 - have a look at this plan :)

thanks again becky remind me to buy you a pint if we ever cross paths heh.

flights booked with easy jet

hotel santa fe booked. couldnt get anything but the standard meal deal on regular booking so going to ring them saturday to try and get the upgraded one as the restaraunts on offer are far better than the standard package and its easyier and better value than using the standard package vouchers as face value

Hi,

I think its worth mentioning that the VEA shuttle is always the same price, regardless of which time of the day you're using it. The TGV can be different prices depending on if you need to use it during peak travel time.

I'm flying into CDG, and using the VEA to get to the hotel (Santa Fe). As has been said before, its a door-to-door service. Also means far less hanging around at the airport waiting for the transportation (I walked straight onto the VEA last time, using same flights as this time etc). Looking at the TGV timetable from CDG, I believe the VEA will get me to DLRP quicker (and I always want to get into the parks as quick as I possibly can on my first day).

Coming back from DLRP, I'm getting the TGV, I've prebooked my ticket. Its about the same price as the single fare on the VEA, because I'm travelling on the TGV at peak travel time. The advantage of the TGV coming back from DLRP, is I can spend easily an extra hour in the parks over the VEA (as its only a 10 minute journey on the TGV, compared with about an hour on the VEA), and still be at CDG with plenty time to spare to get to my terminal before check-in opens.

thanks Elaine thats a great tip. Will have to compare the times and work out which is best

On another note is there anywhere on the web I can find menus for the restaurants in the park etc? trying to compare the cost of eating normally to buying their meal package

The dlpfoodguide is a great site for deciding where you might like to eat. Click on the name of the eating place then MENU and you will get a list of menus (on the whole they are up to date) and prices.

We've also got DISers reviews of some of the restaurants in our Restaurant sticky. :)
