I want it to be special, but I also don't want to waste alot of food!! Is doing just the tea really special or should I do something more?

Do you get to pick what kind of filling goes in it?

My daughter and I did the tea in October and I did order the slipper as a surprise for her. We both ordered the Buckingham, so had a lot of food, so when the slipper was delivered, we shared it.

She was thrilled with it, so it was worth that alone. By the way, my daughter is 33 and she was just as thrilled as if she were 10.

A very special time that neither of us will soon forget.

I say go for the slipper for the WOW factor and the special memory

It makes a meal more magical. However, we didn't really eat it. We were full and it is very rich.

Here's how it looks at GF; a little different than at CRT:

Did you order yours at 1900 park Faire or somewhere else in Grand Floridian, we have ADR for Grand Floridian Cafe for dinner during the 1900 refurb and would like to order a special dessert for DD's like we did at CRT. Is that a White chocolate Castle on the dessert on the backside of the table?

Can someone explain the GF tea for me. I am 27 and my wife is 25. Will we be out of place and I would like to try to get an idea if she would enjoy it

Thanks

Yes, I ordered the special desserts (slipper and mini wedding cake with white chocolate castle on top) at 1900 Park Fare dinner.

Yes, that is a white chocoate castle on top of the mini cake. ($25)

The slipper at GF is $14.50. I think it's a couple of dollars less at CRT.

Is there anything cool like this for boys?? I want to do something special for my ds' for his 13th birthday (and for my 37th b-day the same weekend) in May.

They used to have (don't know if they still do; haven't heard about them on the DIS for quite awhile) Dog Bones. They are eclairs. I've heard they aren't that great to eat though but I don't know that first-hand.

I think that in the grand scheme of cost of vacation versus cost of this fancy treat, well the slipper then isn't really all that exspensive. I think worst case scenario is you come home from your trip and still be nagged by "I wish I would have ordered that slipper desert" Then you can't so anything about it..so basically i am saying just go for it! If you are full from other things I am sure they would box it for you to take back to your room also. :thumbsup2

Thanks !! I am going to order it! How far in advance do I need to order it? And who do I call?

You would call either the GF Bakery #407-824-2578 or the GF main number #407-824-3000.

I wouldn't call too early. If you call too early, they cuold misplace the order. Maybe call a week before. I know they need 48 hours notice though.
