Taking food on ME buses?

Hi. We're leaving on an early morning flight (730) to WDW, and I'm not sure how hungry my boys will be that early. I'll try to feed them before we get on the plane, and have snacks for on the plane, but if they are hungry when we get into MCO, does anyone know what the policy is about taking food on the ME buses? I'd like to have the option of picking up some fast food on our way out of the airport, so that the kids can eat on the way to WDW.

TIA for any assistance you can give!

I must admit I don't know the letter of the law. But I do know that most DME drivers frown on passengers eating food on the DME buses, because each driver is responsible for the cleanliness of his/her bus; I read this from 2 DME drivers on another message board. My GUESS is that eating on the DME bus is prohibited, but hopefully you will get a response from someone who knows for sure.

You can't eat or drink onboard DME.

In your situation if the kids don't have enough on the plane I would consider stopping for a break when you arrive at MCO. Instead of getting something to eat on the bus if they are that hungry I would eat it before going to DME.

You don't have an actual reservation via DME so whenever your done you just head to DME and check in, board the bus and head to WDW.

Thanks... based on a response received after yours, I'm guessing what I'll need to do is just take a few minutes to get them food & have them eat it before we go to the ME check-in area. I am glad it occurred to me to ask this before I got there! :)

Thanks again!

Thanks! While that's not the answer I wanted to hear, I do respect it & will definitely keep that in mind, making sure to take a minute as necessary to get them some solid food. I'll just have to try really hard not to rush them excessively in my excitement to just get there! :rotfl:

Thanks again!

You'll only add an extra 20 minutes or so to the total time. Are you traveling with the kids alone, or will there be another adult with you? If there are two adults, have one adult stop with the kids and grab something to eat. There is a lounge type area where they could sit and munch while the other adult does the DME checkin at the counter. The lounge area is right there, across from the counter. Then, just head for the bus lines as soon as they are done eating. If you miss the bus, there will be another one coming along shortly.

Well, the trip down will be me, & the 3 ds; the oldest is 14, so quite helpful when I need him to be. DH doesn't come down until the next night. (He's in law school & has a final that day!) I guess my worst case scenario is sending my oldest with the two youngest to get food while I handle getting checked in w/ DME. I can minimize that by just having him sit with them while they eat, hopefully within eye view. Is the lounge that close, do you know?

The very large, very open family sitting/waiting area is right next to the DME counter. However, while you are standing at the counter, the waiting area will be directly behind you.

Since you'll be alone with the kids, and the food areas are on level 3 and you'll be heading to level 1, I would recommend that you all stop, grab a bite to eat and take it with you to the DME area. Then, while you're checking in, the kids can sit and eat in the family lounge area. It's very safe, you'll be within view of the kids.

Thank you both! Haven't been to MCO in over 10 years, so haven't a clue what the layout is. We'll just have to grab something, head to the DME check-in area & take 15 minutes as needed to eat. They will need to eat at some point, as we have a 240 ADR at Le Cellier for a late lunch, and as someone earlier stated, hungry boys make cranky boys... we don't want that! ;)

Thanks again!

Do you think I can give my baby a bottle on the ME bus?
I can't imagine anyone having any problem with that. Not only is it a baby, but we're not talking about anything that will cause a food-based mess (spitting up notwithstanding!:rotfl: ) for the driver to have to clean up.

Obviously, you haven't met DS - he's the king of spit up! :lmao:

I figured I could give the baby a bottle on ME, but having never taken DME before, I wanted to be sure. I'll pack plenty of burp cloths and wipes to take care of any "spills"!
