Taking Christmas presents on plane

Hi there-
I'm planning on taking my brothers Xmas present on the plane with us and have a few questions. It is a box of wine glasses, boxed up already in a Crate & Barrel box and taped shut. I know not to wrap it, but I'm wondering if security will cut the tape open. If so, do I need to bring tape with me to retape it or do they do that? I won't be able to carry it through the airport untaped so I'm a little worried (and truth be told, a little anal!). I guess I'm assuming its ok to take glasses on the plane, that isn't one of the forbidden items, is it? Thanks for any advice!

As long as the box will go through the scanner/xray machine at the security check points, you should be OK. Since you are so worried about carrying it without the box being taped, I think I would bring some tape along "just in case". That should make the process a little less stressful for you.

AFAIK, wine glasses are not on anyone's list of forbidden items.
