Taking carry-on bags through security and into EPCOT?

I want my Daisy passholder magnet! My only opportunity will be on Monday April 29 if we leave for the airport early and take our bags with us into EPCOT. Assuming the magnets are still available, I'm thinking about how to get in that morning.

Can anyone talk to me about what they've experienced bringing a rolling carry-on and backpack through security? Will they let me? I swear there is some rule about not pulling a rolling bag behind you....

Or are there still oversized lockers out by the bus stops?

Thanks :)

Why don't you leave it at the resort, don't you need to return there to get a bus to the airport?

This isn't actually a Disney trip and we aren't staying very near WDW :( We are flying in and out of MCO.

It will be sad to be so close to home but not there!

Since you say 'we', I assume you're travelling with multiple people? In that case, have 1 person watch all the bags outside of security. 1 person can take everyone's AP's and get the magnets--you don't all have to be there--you just need to have their AP to scan. (DH has done this for us--3 of us were in the park and 1 was at college and he had no problem getting 4 magnets for our 4 AP's.)

Security will ask you to remove all clothing from the carry ons and they will search it thoroughly. It is not worth it IMO. I would try what was suggested by Geomom. When we got one they scanned our MBs. I didn't see anyone use an AP card.

FYI, I think they decided lockers outside the gates/secure zone are a security risk, so they are no longer offered

i do not think your rolling carry on will be allowed in the parks but if by chance gets by are you prepared to have to repack it before you go in? security will most likely remove everything from your bag. I remember reading somewhere that the large lockers have been removed and there is a rule about not pulling anything behind you

I assume you won't have a car to leave everything in.
I would have some one stay outside the gate with the bags.
As others have said, I don't think you will be allowed to take the bag in. And if you can, the hassle of getting through security isn't worth it.

Personally, I would not do this for a magnet.

EDIT: Will you have a car rental? Just leave all your bags in the car.

If no rental car, leave your bags with bell services at BC and walk through the entrance at WS. Just pay a tip when you return.

I was behind a person going thru security with all her friends things ( to save time) Unfortunately she also had a rolling carry on. Security told her she would not be allowed into the park with it. They told her she would have to put it into her car or take it back to her room. She argued for awhile. Then she must have said she would take them back but proceeded to the Magic Kingdom. She got stopped over there too. She never got into the park. What an idiot.

I was reading on touringplans.com that posted an article on lockers today.

https://touringplans.com/blog/2019/04/10/planning-basics-lockers-at-walt-disney-world/

In the article are a couple paragraphs dealing with this issue.

Can I leave a rolling suitcase in a locker at Epcot or Magic Kingdom?

Probably, but you may run into some headaches.

The dimensions of the jumbo lockers is 17″ x 22″ x 26″. Airline rules vary, but a typical maximum carry-on suitcase size is 22″ x 9″ X 14″. If you’re following the letter of the law, then your carry-on will likely fit in jumbo locker, but if you’re fudging, then you may be in trouble. (Note that Disney has a separately stated rule that says, “Suitcases, bags, coolers or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18” high are not allowed in any Theme Park or Water Park.)

Remember that when you bring your suitcase into the park, you’ll have to go through the regular security screening. Nothing in your bag can violate the rules stated on Disney’s rather extensive list of prohibited items. Personal items that could trigger scrutiny are razors, anything in a glass container, medical marijuana, selfie sticks, and a host of other items. Disney also has a prohibition on items that you pull behind you. However, if you explain that you’re taking your wheeled suitcase directly to a locker, they may waive this rule. All of this is up to the discretion on the security staff on duty.

I thought there were lockers just outside some of the park entrances? What happened to those?

In the past, there had been lockers located at the Transportation and Ticket Center and near the bus loading areas at Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Those have been removed. The only lockers at the parks are within the park gates. From a security perspective, this makes complete sense.

Happy Planning!

You cannot bring rolling suit cases through security and they would have to inspect everything even if you could.

You can bring rolling suitcases in. I see them in the parks all the time. Why, I have no clue. I feel miserable for the people having to trudge through the parks pulling them along. Guess it's not much different than a stroller? But I've yet to make a trip and not see them. As recent as Valentines Day this year.

I am going to assume though, that they have not brought their weeks worth of clothes with them, that they bring something else, food maybe? A few items they need? Anyway, I wouldn't bother bringing a boat load of clothes in.

According to the rules they are not allowed my guess is you will see that being enforced more starting May 1st as well. Basically nothing that can be pulled behind you is allowed and that includes rolling bags.

You obviously have never seen my carry on bags....seriously, I can pack two weeks worth and souvenirs in a carry on and a personal item if needed.
