We're taking dd to Disneyland less than 2 weeks before she turns 3. So pretty much everything is free from what I hear. The only problem is the girl is a giant-- 40 inches tall. Should I carry id for her with me in case they don't believe her age or will it be a problem? And will it complicate things if she gets a birthday button? We're celebrating her birthday early while we're down there.

We've never had a problem with ID at the gates. Even when we went for the 50th Anniversary and had event tickets, we brought our DD who was almost 3 and had no problems (she had no ticket). However, our DD is on the other end of the spectrum and is very petite (is 5 now and 41"). I would prepare to have her passport or other ID just to be on the absolute salfe side, but if you don't have either of these things, I wouldn't go out and get one. You will most likely not get any questioning about it, even with a BDay button. As no proof is asked for with a BDay, and you are already in the park, being younger than 3 is not a problem at all at City Hall.

I took my duaghter the day before she turned three and got zero hassle from the gate. My DD, too, was a giant three year old. I don't remember exactly her height, but was over 40", think more like 42". No problem, no suspician, just let through the gates easy as pie!!

Same child is now 7.5 and is 55" tall!! Doing Magic Mountain this summer as she will do all the big rides!!!

Don't worry, relax, and have fun!!!

Not just for disneyland, but i was watching an episode of the airline show, and one of the airlines took a fit cause the kid was 2 but big and they were gonna make her pay! its always best to have just incase! but i wouldn't worry about them trying to charge you for anything!

Our son is 2.5 and not huge, but fairly tall. No one questioned his age on anything. He got in free and also ate free at the character breakfast we went to. ;)

We were in a similar situation with DD her Birthday was at the end of our trip. She's very tall, 6 years old and 52 inches! She was 42 inches when she turned 3. She had no problems getting into the park or at the buffets where she was free. We made sure to tell Disney Dining when we made our ressies that she was 2 and confirmed that she would be free. She wore her Birthday Button everywhere. She is going to have a great time. I love watching our video of that trip. DD couldn't wait to see the castle and the look on her face is priceless! Have a wonderful trip!

Her admittance will be free. As well as food, if she is sharing with you. If you purchase something for her you will have to pay for that.

Well I will say this. If she is large for a 2 year old I would. I say this because going into DCA from the Grand CA I got hassled by the OLD guys working the gate. They didnt' believe me that DS didnt' need a ticket because of his age. Disneyland no problems but DCA I did.

just a thought.

You know, when my daughter was 1.5 years old, I took her to the DMV and made an ID card for her. You can get them at any age and it is the simplest thing to carry it in your wallet along with your own. In case you ever need it, it is always there.

Thanks everyone. We're from Canada so she has a passport to get down there anyway. I think I'll carry a photocopy of it with me just to be safe.

I got ID for my kids when we traveled to WDW not so much for age issues but for airport security issues (which there weren't any)

We just got back yesterday. Our 2 year old will be 3 in a few weeks. I brought her birth certificate, justin case, but only one time did anyone say anything. At the DLand gate, a man asked for her ticket, but as soon as I said she was 2, he just said okay and sent us through.

You know, ds is a little tall for his age compared to most 3 year olds, he just turned 3 in December. When we went in Feb. I had a ticket for him and if I wouldn't have given it to the girl, she never would have asked for it. And even after we upgraded to our AP's, whenever we park hopped, 95% of the time I never showed his AP. But, he rides in the stroller a lot still (I feel safer knowing he's buckeled in, especially with the crowds sometimes). I guess it really depends on whether the CM thinks the child looks 2 or 3 on whether they ask for a ticket.

My twins just turned two and are 36" and 37.5" tall LOL (daddy is 6'7") and if you ask one of them how old he is, he'll say "three!" so i think we'll be bringing some proof when we go in May!

This happened to us when we took DD a week before she turned 3. They did not hassle us or even question us when I told him she was 2.

That's a fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing it, I think we'll go do that!
