Hello everyone! I'm planning the details of my upcoming cruise and I am an aspiring portrait photographer that works seasonally in my local area (and do pretty good for the part-time effort I put into it). I also LOVE to take pictures of incredible nature and be creative with the photos and I'm planning a day trip to the Baths in July with my family - on our own so we aren't "rushed" along with an excursion. I also have a 17 7ear old who is usually my "marketing" model and I have visions of some really nice pics of her (this is the trip between Junior and Senior year) at the Baths that I can play with light, silhouette, etc... for her portfolio.
I'm trying to decide do I take my 'professional' Mirrorless camera (which is expensive) with me to the baths or will it get smashed and banged trying to get around and through everything or should I bring a smaller point and shoot type of camera?
What type of photo experiences has anyone had in this type of environment?

Being something smaller. I would not bring the expensive unit. It will get wet and you might have to crawl at a few points.

We just used our phones for photos which we had in waterproof bags. On our trip we had to swim in from the boat.

I never take anything that is expensive on an excursion. Never know what could happen to it. Better to get a cheaper camera(waterproof) that you wouldn't be upset if it gets damaged or lost.

We used a waterproof point & shoot. We came in by boat so we swam in but it was so worth it as we had the baths pretty much to ourselves for the first hour. It was amazing.

Yeah, I would not bring anything fancy. It’s a tight squeeze in a few places, and you could also be up to your waist in water.

Even if nothing bad actually happened to the expensive camera, you’d still probably have spent your entire time there stressing about protecting it.
