Forgive me for the silly questions...
I've never taken a cab in Disney (only used the free buses). On this trip, we're going to Disapalooza at Hollywood Studios. It doesn't start until 10pm and HS closes at 8pm. I need to take a cab from our resort (AKL) to HS. Are there always cabs available outside the resort (in the front)? or do I need to call for one? I have no idea how this works...

Also, you have to pay with cash, correct? TIA!!!

We've always seen 2-3 cabs lined up outside the main entrance to the resort. There are also usually a few more waiting in the parking lot until it is their turn to get in line. I've never had to wait for a cab at any of the deluxe resorts. If none are in sight you can ask at the valet desk and it shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

There will be cabs available at AKL. If there isn't one there when you are ready to go, the bellmen will call one for you. I'd expect the cab to the DAP event to cost $10-15.

After the event you may need to call a cab. I'd get the cab company's number before you go just in case. I know there will be a bunch of people with cars and you may be able to catch a ride to AKL from one of them. If not though, just walk out of the park and see if there are any cabs outside and then you can call one if need be. They should get there fairly quickly.

In a related question, are there taxis waiting at TTC or do I have to call one? I'll attend the last MNSSHP next year and staying offsite. I plan to stay till 12am before heading back to the hotel.

Yes they are at TTC as well. However, I'd suggest just walking over to the Contemporary and catching one there after the party so you don't have to deal with the crowds for the monorail/ferry.

Great tip, I hadn't considered that, thank you! :cutie:

We are arriving this weekend and staying onsite at the CBR. We have plans on Tuesday to go to Universal Studios - we have never traveled off property before. Will the Mears cabs be able to take us to Universal or do they only travel within the WDW properties? :confused3

Any advice for how early we will want to be in the cab to get to Universal when it opens at 9am?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Any cab in the greater Orlando area can take you to Universal. From WDW, it'll probably be $30 or so before tip, or a bit more if there is traffic.

It's about a 20 minute drive, and I'd allow 10 minutes to walk from the taxi stand at Universal (which is near the front of the parking garage) through CityWalk to the front gates of either park. If there is traffic (which there might well be in the morning), that can tack on another 10 minutes or so. So I'd leave 40 minutes before you want to be there. And of course keep in mind that like WDW, there's a big line up at the gates at opening, so you might want to target getting there 30 minutes early in order to get a good spot in line.
