My son will be 2 years and 11 months when we take him to WDW for the first time at Christmas. I keep seeing that he does not need a ticket to enter the parks until he is 3. If this is so... and if he is tall enough to ride the rides that require the rider to be 40"... will it be adequate for my husband and I to obtain fastpasses for ourselves with our tickets and have him ride as well? Also, it appears that breakfast is free for children under 3. Is this because he is expected to pick off our plates, or will he be allowed to partake of buffets for free at the character breakfasts?

Thanks for your answers,
Adrianna

Kudos for you for getting in before it gets even more expensive. DS#2 will be the exact same age (2y11m) on our 2006 trip, partly for that reason. :)

Yup, no ticket until after his 3rd birthday. No charge for meals either. When we were there, many servers offered to get our 7 month a child's meal (and kept telling us, "there's no cost")--he wasn't even eating yet, so I don't *think* he has to pick off your plates. I know at buffets, he certainly won't have to. And yes, those under 3 don't require a fast pass to ride, but can ride with you anyhow. Not all fastpass attractions have a height restriction. And he can certainly ride anything he is tall enough to ride on.

Took small children more than my share, believe me! You don't need a ticket for a child under 3. When you get FP, get them for yourself and your DH. The child automatically rides with you. As for buffets where children under 3 don't have to pay, they can get their own plate. They are not expected to eat from yours. The non-buffet restaurants you will need to pay for their food if you order off the children's menu.

Thank you for the quick responses. Very complete answers to my questions. I really appreciate the friendly way theat everyone here wants to help make this vacation a dream come true.

We went in 1996 with our then almost 2 yr old and had a fantastic time. It was great that he could eat a buffet for no cost - they more than welcomed him at Chef Mickeys and the Crystal Palace buffet.

Now that same 2 yr old is now 10!! I am going with just him in June - not paying for a 2 yr old is alot better than paying an adult fare for a 10 yr old!!!
Have a wonderful trip!
