After much thought and a`somewhat ' stressful year, our family is going for 8 nights at BCV. We will stay in the room and do dinners at night. We might go for an evening stroll in EPCOT a couple of times. Being DVC members with points already banked, we didn't want to sell them. MOm and I also decided to take turns going to the pool during the day and maybe even shopping. Any other ideas for us?

I would just relax and take things as they come - I wouldn't plan on long days at the parks, but I wouldn't stay in the room all day either - hours and hours in a hotel room isn't my idea of fun, and baby will be quite happy in a stroller or sling walking around a park for a few hours (of course, I'm assuming if you have DVC then you have Annual Passes, cause if you are worrying about getting your moneys worth out of hoppers then that wouldn't work so well).

Just go out early morning or in the evening when it's cooler, and try and avoid the heat of midday.

Have a great trip

Just what Bev said, go out early in the am. and in the early evening when the sun goes down. Its cooler then. Just bring sunscreen & little summer hats for the baby. Bring cool wet wash cloths in a ziplock bag to cool the baby down some and talc to keep him/her fresh feeling.

I wouldn't put sunscreen on a 10 week old, but keep the baby out of the sun with hats, covered stroller or whatever. I took my youngest in October when he was around 12-14 weeks old and we were just fine. He was a very placid, happy baby. I probably wouldn't have done as well taking my first that young, but by the 3rd, it seems easy. It's also really easy if you are still nursing. Naturally, he was off his normal schedule, but he seemed none the worse for it - just slept when he wanted to and ate when he wanted to.

We went to the MK, Epcot and MGM on that trip. We didn't swim at all because we were in a Wilderness Cabin and none of the adults felt like it. The older kids (5 and 3) were OK because we stayed so busy. We did use the car to go to the parks, because it just seemed easier with the stroller. Once I even sent everyone else to Epcot on the Monorail and I walked out to the car and drove over there to meet them. I let my Mom and MIL take the older kids on rides while I sat out with the baby if he was sleeping in the stroller (often.) Other times, one of them sat with him while I did a ride. I have precious pictures of characters holding my son at the Liberty Tree Tavern. We got a lot of extra attention.

Anyway, if yours is a healthy, happy baby, there's no need to stay cooped up in the room all the time. If you want to stay out of the sun, you and your Mom could go with the baby to the tea at the Grand Floridian one afternoon - a nice Mom-daughter place.

Never put sunscreen on an infant under 6 months and be careful of the heat. Under the age of 6 months babies do not sweat well enough to adjust their temperature and will run a fever if they get too hot!

We stayed at the Beach Club when my youngest was a baby and it worked out great. I agree that you should only tour the parks in the mornings & evenings when it's not so hot. Other than that, I was really surprised at how many rides I could go on with the baby, especially at Epcot. I don't know if you're breastfeeding, but she nursed very comfortably during many of those indoor cool, dark rides! We really enjoyed the convenience of walking into Epcot to see the fireworks in the evening too. Don't go to MGM via the boats for fireworks & closing though. There's a very long line & wait to get back to the Beach Club when they're over. Good luck & have a great trip.

If you are nursing keep yourself well hydrated. Keep yourself hydrated anyway. If the baby is bottle feeding be sure to have bottles of water as well as formula and keep the baby well hydrated. Also see if you can find the diaper revieving blankets that the Hispanic people use. REally great as the baby is covered but since they are made of cotton they are cool.

We found at Toy's R Us an umbrella that attaches to the stroller. That really helped extend the shade. We also took a light colored receiving blanket to cover the dark stroller shade. I felt it helped reflect the sun and kept the stroller cooler. You can also get a clip-on fan to keep the temps down.

Ask your pediatrician about the sunscreen--our's didn't have a problem with it. He also had us add an extra ounce of water to each bottle to keep her hydrated.

Don't be afraid to go to some of the parks and have fun--babies that age are very portable!

We took our 10 week old last August and the clip-on fan that I bought at OneStepAhead.com was a lifesaver!!!!!!!!!!!! Get one!!!!!!

I would take your own stroller, one that is cushy and more infant-oriented. Even at 10 weeks, your baby will be more comfortable in the same stroller every time.

Use the Baby Centers, too. They are great!

Have a good trip and enjoy the pixie dust!

I wouldn't go out if it is too hot, but ask your doc about the sunscreen. Mine said that they don't use this certain ingredient anymore and now it is safe to use for less than 6 months, can't remember what the ingredient was. Would test it out before you go though.

Also, make sure you have a big hat for your baby, they have one that looks like an army hat where it has a larger back that extends over the neck that I recommend.

I took my baby when she was 3 months old to Disneyland and I warn you that you may fend off some well meaning people if you don't want your baby touched. While we walked around and particularly when we waited in lines, it wasn't hot in May, people would reach out and without asking touch my baby. of course then she would put her hands in her mouth, yuck! Anyway, several times I said "look but don't touch" in a tactful way.

Enjoy the nice leisurely walks and bring your stroller and make sure you have it as covered as you want. I bought little chain links and hung a blanket over the end to help her sleep while she was in the stroller. It also discouraged children from touching her and waking her up. People would try to touch her even while asleep! (Don't wake the sleeping baby : )

When they are this young IMHO I think they are easy to travel with except for the amount of luggage they require.

Have fun!

I;ve always been intrigued by the no-sunscreen comments on this board, as we are advised to use sunscreen over here, and we don't get half the sun you do. We can buy sunscreen which is marketed specifically towards babys, I don't know if it contains different ingredients to 'normal' sunscreen, but it is definitely aimed at babys and has Factor 50 or above.

On the touching thing - I really hate that, and where we live there is an old tradition to give new babys money, so we were always having people reach into the pram and touch the baby with a coin - money is so dirty that it really bugged me, why would they want to put that dirty coin on my precious babys hand or face?
