(Imagine this in your best Disney ride announcer voice) “For your safety, please remain seated and keep your hands and arms away from the monitor at all times.”

Quick Recap from Day 3 - Part 1:

Found “cheap” gas before returning rental cars.
Had my life saved by a fire alarm.
Got Buddy to ride RNR.
Got FP for TOT.
Rode Great Movie Ride and Star Tours.
Saw Muppet Show.
Saw Buzz and Woody.
Ate below average pizza.

Now that you are back up to speed, let’s continue.

After lunch, we headed over to TOT. I have been looking forward to this for months. I try to get Buddy to go with, but he sternly refuses me on this one. “Ok, stay with Meme, Papa, and the other kids, we’ll be right back.” They stayed behind and had ice cream (an easy way to keep Meme happy, not to mention the kids) while BIL, Min and I head off. Min is not a big fan of this one either, but she goes because her brother has never been on it and she wants to see his reaction. After riding it, I realize why this is one of my absolute favorite rides in all of Disney. The random sequence of drops makes is so much better than when we rode it on our Disneymoon. Up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down, it seemed like a dozen times! :scared1: It is just flat out awesome! Unfortunately, my co-riders didn’t feel quite as strongly about it as I did. Oh well. Now I’m happy. If we do nothing else today, I’m satisfied. BIL and I do agree, though. We must get Papa to ride this later. So we grab some more FP’s before we go.

We spent the afternoon checking out different stuff. Doodle and Buckleboy took naps in the stroller. We sneaked into the animation tour from the back end, and got to meet the Incredibles. I had my picture taken with Mrs. Incredible! (I don’t care what anybody else says, Elastigirl is a hottie!)

Papa had fun talking to anyone and everyone who would talk back. Except for the guy animating the cells in the shop at the end of the animation tour. See, animation is Papa’s thing. He is an illustrator by trade. He works for a company that does commercial illustration, like for advertisements. But his love is art. He is a very talented artist. This would be right up his alley, and that’s why I wanted to do this attraction. After all, this week is not entirely about me, right? But the CM at the desk illustrating the cells was entirely unfriendly. Now, we have all earned the right to “tune out” Papa. After all, we have been around him for years. But this guy didn’t know him from Adam. All Papa wanted to do was talk to the guy about illustration, and the guy wouldn’t even hardly look up. “Hey, this is your job. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else. Papa would gladly do what you are doing, and do it much better than you!” Ok, I’ll put the soapbox away, but I was disappointed. This attraction had the opportunity to be a highlight for Papa, and it wasn’t. Hmmm, so much for planning.

I decided that the Backlot Tour might be a nice diversion after that. After all, everyone needs to experience catastrophe canyon at least once, right? So we head over there only to find out that catastrophe canyon isn’t operating today. Warning: The pixie dust seems to be faltering; the magic is waning. I’m beginning to get a little frustrated and suggest we just do something else, but Min says we should go anyway. So we take our places in the front row to watch the war movie part of the tour. Unfortunately, everyone notices the wet pavement and decides they are a little too close to the action. Darn! They sniffed out my trick! :teeth: But Buddy stayed up front with me. It was kind of neat to watch the filming, as usual. And we didn’t get wet. Just a few drops, you worrywarts! As it ended, I turned around to gather the rest of the group and we are two short. Doodle decided she had to go, NOW! So her and Min were going to meet us outside. We walked through the prop warehouse (boring) and into the costume shop. The costume shop was cool. Buddy got to get his picture taken with Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper! We ran outside to tell Min about our encounter with the evil empire, when we hear some very loud music. :rockband: It seems to be coming from the entrance to the new stunt show. We walk over there to see what all the commotion is.

Buddy got a big surprise over there: POWER RANGERS!!!!!!!! Now this is making his day. Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, and Power Rangers! They drove their car out into the street, and then they all hopped off one by one, greeting the crowd. They were setting up for pictures and autographs! Buddy got in line immediately for the white guy, what’s his name? Something like White Dinomite? Or White Thundershower? No, I know, it was White DinoThunder! The CM clearly shows where to form a line to meet this amazing superhero. Min and Buddy follow directions and line up exactly as told. Shortly, another line forms right next to the real line. It gets about 10-12 people long when the CM comes by and tells those people that they are not in line and they need to join the real line. By this time Min & Buddy are about 3 people from the front, and some rude family tries to cut right in front of them. Min (who plainly speaks her mind, especially when a member of her family is being wronged) quickly, but politely, speaks up. “Excuse me, the line is back there,” pointing to the end of the line. Well, this mean fat lady (no offense to any overweight folks reading this, I’m just trying to paint the picture) with her 3 kids fires back in a very rude tone, “Uhh, no, there were 2 lines.” Well, needless to say, this didn’t sit very well with Min. She didn’t want to ruin the magic of the moment, but this lady was clearly told she was not in the right line and then just barges right in front of our very patiently waiting son. Luckily, the nice lady in front of Min who also has the ability to understand clear instructions, speaks up. “No, Maam, you weren’t in line. THIS is the line.” Clearly seeing she was not going to win this battle, mean fat lady grabs her kids and storms off, but not before she shoots an “up yours” :snooty: type of look at Min and her new mean people fighting friend. To my wife’s credit, she just lets it go. Hey, it is Disney after all. Feel the magic! It’s Buddy’s turn now. He strolls up there. White DinoThunder signs the book, and then poses Buddy in official White DinoThunder stance. They are both standing there, ready to defend the world against mean people who don’t understand that they need to wait in lines like the rest of us! What a picture! Buddy is ecstatic, and Doodle and Buckleboy thought it was pretty cool to see too.

We did a few other assorted attractions all with minimal waits (thanks to my outstanding planning), and headed over to the Indiana Jones stunt show. I feel the magic beginning to return! We got there about 15 minutes early only to find out that it was already full. So we did Sounds Dangerous instead. What they do with sound in there really is amazing. Doodle and Buckleboy had more fun with pretzels than the earphones. So much for “No eating, drinking, blah, blah, blah, during the show.” As we crunched our way out of our row after the show was over, I now understand why they have the no eating rule. Sorry, Mousekeepers. You’ll have a little extra work here tonight. After that, we got some ice cream, wandered around a little, sat on some benches, and just enjoyed the atmosphere while we were waiting for the next Indy Jones show.

We got to the next Indy show about 30 minutes early, and had no trouble getting in. But they didn’t let a whole lot more people in after us. We got nice seats, about a third of the way up, to the left of center. It was a neat show, and a nice break from the sun and heat. It wasn’t really that hot, just in the upper 70’s, but coming from Chicago where we hadn’t gotten over 55 yet this year, it was pretty warm.

After the show, we staked out our parade spot, near our dinner restaurant at Hollywood and Vine. We got good spots, although there wasn’t much shade where we were. The parade was good. Doodle really enjoyed it. I think this was her first parade, and she really got a big kick out of it. The characters were very interactive, and she loved it. She waved to them all. I could see the magic happening. My daughter was getting lost in the Disney magic. :wizard: It was an amazing feeling to watch that happen. She was seeing all of her favorite characters come to life, and interacting with her – she was waving to them and they were waving back! It was a moment I didn’t want to end. These are the moments that get seared into my memory. Moments like this will give me a reason to smile when I open those credit card statements in about 3 weeks.

It was about 5:45 and there were beginning to be calls from the peanut gallery that we have to go. “We are going to be late for our dinner reservation.” Ok, first it’s not a reservation… oh forget it, I’m not going to try to explain that now. Doodle’s having the time of her life, the parade is almost over - we’re staying. REMEMBER, I have this week planned to a tee. We will not lose our dinner spot.

The parade ended just before 5:50, which was our P.S. time. We hightailed it about the 300 feet to the front door of Hollywood & Vine, and I snuck into the front of the line :rolleyes1 to tell them that we had arrived. We had a seat on the balcony for about 10 minutes and then our table was ready. This was the first P.S. I had ever done, and, so far, it worked very smoothly.

All 8 of us were seated together (they weren’t sure if they could when I made the P.S.). We had our drinks in no time then it was time for the buffet. They had a little one for the kids, and a big one for the adults. We got the kids set, and then we got to eat. I filled up my plate with all kinds of stuff – some kind of rice, a seafood pasta combo, chicken, potatoes, steak, and some other good stuff. I looked at my plate and thought, “I’m really not that hungry, how will I eat all this?” 3 platefuls later I was hitting the desert bar. That was a delicious meal. I had no idea how hungry I was until I started eating. And boy was I full when I was done. The kids started getting a little rowdy (they finished their chicken nuggets pretty quick), so Min took them outside to wait for the rest of us. We paid our bill, which was pretty reasonable, got our ticket for Fantasmic and we were out the door.

(Overall rating for our dining experience at Hollywood & Vine: 3 ¼ Mickey’s (out of 4). The food was very good, especially for a buffet, and the service was excellent. We will definitely return someday.)

We decided to head over to RNR to use our fastpasses from this morning. When we got there it was closed, rats! I tried to get someone to go on TOT with me since we still had FP’s for that too, but they were all chickens. I thought about going solo, but it’s just not as much fun that way. So, I decided I would be nice and I gave the FP’s away to a very grateful family from some foreign country. Welcome to America! :earsboy:

Shopping seemed like a good way to kill some time before Fantasmic. I volunteered to stay outside with the kids. You would think I would know better. The 3 of them decided that they all wanted to sit in the 2-person stroller. Can you say, f-i-g-h-t? The long day seems to be taking its toll.

This is where Buckleboy, became Buckleboy. Until now, he was just Brady. But it was outside the stores that he discovered that the stroller had buckles. Those are fascinating things. They fit together so neatly. They also make this cool “click” sound when you push them together. They can even go in other slots, too! So while I have the two older kids fighting over who gets to sit, Buckleboy is parked right in front of the stroller buckling the buckles. This, in and of itself, wouldn’t be too bad. But he doesn’t know how to unbuckle those darn things! So what happens when he gets them buckled? He screams bloody murder until I unbuckle them. It went something like, “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” I think everyone thought I was beating him, or trying to steal him, or something. “Nope, sorry to disappoint folks, it’s just Buckleboy being Buckleboy. Continue on your way. There is nothing to see here.” We did this drill for a while - it seemed much longer than it actually was, I’m sure. When the rest of the group came out of the shops with their treasures, Buckleboy didn’t want to move from his perch in front of the stroller. This could be a very fun week. Are these really my kids?

At about 8:00 we made our way into Fantasmic for the 8:30 show. I had never seen it before, and I had heard lots and lots of good things about it from every source I checked. Needless to say, I was excited. We were in the reserved seating section. It was on the far right side of the theater, and near the top. The top was good, but this far to the right kind of concerned me. It turned out not to matter. There is not a bad seat in the house. You can see it all from everywhere. I will definitely do the Fantasmic dinner package again. It was much nicer having the kids fight on the sidewalk outside instead of in the theater for that hour before the show.

The show was truly Fantasmic! It brought back all kinds of memories from movies from my childhood, as well as lots of Disney emotion. It lasted about a half hour, and even though I had Buckleboy climbing all over me, it ended much too quickly. I absolutely loved it. It was truly a spectacle not to be missed. It would definitely be worth seeing again if we could fit it in.

We made our way out toward the exit with about 10,000 other people. Doodle and Buckleboy rode in the stroller, while Buddy got to ride on my shoulders. I had forgotten how heavy a 6 year old can be, but he enjoyed it and I survived. We made it to our bus stop with a surprising amount of ease. There were a few people waiting when we got there, but it was by no means enough to fill a bus. Just as we walked up, the bus arrived! Is my schedule clicking or what?

All 3 kids passed out on the bus ride back to OKW. We lugged them up the stairs (thank goodness we are only on the 2nd floor) and put them to bed. Sleep tight tonight, because tomorrow we go to the Magic Kingdom. It will blow your minds!

“Sweet Disney dreams kids, sweet Disney dreams.”

(Imagine again in your best Disney ride announcer voice), “Please remain seated until the story has come to a full and complete stop. Please exit to Day 4. Thank you.”

Sorry to hear this...Dave is the only guy (that I know of) that does this and he is the nicest guy in the entire world...a real sweet heart..please chalk it up to a bad day... We originally became friends with Dave with he let my 7yr old DD paint a large portion of a cell herself (we ended up purchasing it) she is now 14 and we have been friends of Dave ever since. He must of had a bad day or something...

I'm enjoying your reports..

I don't know what the guys name was. Maybe he was just having a bad day, we all do once in a while. Everybody still had a total blast anyway. I was just a little disappointed because I knew Papa would get a real kick out of it. But no harm done.

I'm glad you're enjoying them. I'll keep 'em coming.
