In an effort to save money, my DW and I will be forgoing a date night where we would have hired one of the available nanny services to come and watch our boys.

My question is, do some of the table service restaurants allow take out ordering? I'm curious about some of the more 'high class' places.

I hope this isn't truly a stupid question.

No it's not a stupid question.

But the answer is no. TS places do not do take out orders, as they are not set up to do so.
The only thing close would be to make an adr, show up, pick at your food and get a small box to take the leftovers. Sorry.

So your date night doesnt include eating at a restaurant? Your gonna do a park, order take out, then go eat in the room? If your already at a restaurant enjoying a lovely meal and decided that you wanted to order 2 dishes for your boys in the room, i cant see why the restaurant would object to that? But if your thinking about walking up to the restaurant and ordering takeout, then the answer would probably be no I think?
Have you considered downtown disney wolfgang puck express? Their food is outstanding for a counterservice restaurant. And yes, you can actually eat there too. thats a wonderful alternative.

What we spoke about was, after our boys have gone to sleep, we would order food, pick it up, and eat in our room (we're getting a family suite at ASMu) and have our 'date' that way.

Sounds weird...but we're weird people. hahaha.

Last time (2007) we had a rent-a-sitter come in and watch the boys for a few hours, and DW and I went to California Grill (window seat YES!) and then his MK afterwards.

Too bad you're not staying at a deluxe, because then you could have in-room dining (room service), but not at the All-Stars. I agree with the others - you're not going to be able to take out at a TS unless you go in and sit down with an ADR and then ask for it to go.

When I was there in Jan I ordered take out from the bar at Wolfgang Puck cafe. You can pick from the same menu as the diners who are seated. You just pick it up at the bar and pay there. There may be other places in DTD that do the same.

Due to our circumstances (two disabled children) DH and I do "date night" this way every Sat night. Most off site restaurants do take out from the bar area but I'm not sure if any would be close enough to your hotel so the food wouldn't be cold.

Thanks!

I will let DW know about this, and we'll be looking at the menu tonight.

You do mean the regular Wolfgang Puck restaurant, not the Express one, correct?

just so you know, some ppl actually think the express is a bit better than the cafe! but to each his own. im sure either one will be great. Look at the menu for both.

Yes the restaurant but I agree with goofyintoronto, check out the Express menu as well. Both have some pretty yummy food.

I'm sure we'll check them all out....we do have a while to plan it all.

Thanks again!

Will your kids be young/old enough to drop off at one of the resort kid club things? I don't have kids and I don't know the details, I just know I pass a lot of signs for evening kids' clubs. LOL

Even if its just for a few hours, I'm sure that would be plenty of time to get a bit of private time in. =)
