Take out from full service restaurants?

Does any know if you can take out from any sit down restaurants in Disney? We are staying at BWV and were wondering if we could get something from Kouzzina or Big River and eat it in our room. Sometimes eating out with little ones can be more trouble than its worth.

Under one condition, I would expect it would be OK. Make reservations, as at any TS resturant. Then, when you show up, say that circumstances mean you need to take the meal to go. I don't see why they wouldn't accomodate you. However, I don't think you could just walk up to a TS resturant and expect to get a meal to go. The kitchen is scheduled for so many diners, based on reservations.

Brought up many times, mostly though for in park TS.

Generally all ts at WDW do not do take out.

Some have been lucky and can get soup and bread from Le Celler(sp?) but its not consistent.

As the PP said, most of the TS places in WDW are not geared for take out. So walking up to the podium and ordering is generally not allowed. If you make an ADR, be seated, and then ask to get the meal to go, that might get you somewhere, but I would not count on it. It's probably something that varies from restaurant to restaurant - so if it works in one places that does not mean it would not work in another place.

In your case, either QS or room service might be your best bet.

Even if they will package up your meal after you order it at a table, remember that they are not set up to give you utensils or anything other than the takeout box/bag they put it in.

As a matter of fact they are. I've never ordered a whole meal to go, but have ordered certain courses to go. I know at Flying Fish I've ordered the cheese plate and the chocolate dessert trio to go, when I was too full to order dessert. I was told that they couldn't do the chocolate creme brulee to go, but could do the other two items. At California Grill when I was too full for dessert, I was told that none of their dessert options were made to transport, but they had a chocolate cake that is not listed on the menu that they offer to go. I asked for the cheese plate instead and was accommodated. At Yachtsman last year I got overheated and didn't feel like going, so my mom and husband went without me. Once I took a bath and cooled off, I got to feeling better and called my husband to bring me back something. He brought me back the seafood salad appetizer, an order of mac & cheese, and an order of mushrooms. Twice at Big River Grill I've filled up on the appetizer dips and gotten my entree and dessert both to go. At Le Cellier a few years ago I got the chocolate cake to go. Now every time, we were eating at these restaurants (not walkups), but they did give us plastic cutlery and napkins.

To me (JMHO), if you want take out, that's what CS places are for. TS restaurants were never intended as sources of take out. This is not the same thing as asking for a "doggy bag" for parts of a meal ordered, but not eaten.

Good to know - sorry my info was out of date! Thanks.

Have you checked the room service menu. Many hotels with multiple restaurants have items available from all of the restaurants. And they deliver, it is on real plates, and you get real utensils.

Thanks everyone. The reason I asked is My DD has special needs and if she is having a bad day a sit down meal can be rough for her. If she has a problem we can, and have gotten our dinners to go, but this can be tough for all involved including other patrons. We have a 1 bedroom villa so we have a place to eat and utensils. I know many off site places do this, Bahama Breeze does and there food is great and resonable and we'll have a car. Only problem DD ever had there was not wanting to sit and eat because she was dancing to the raggae music. Just wonder if anything closer would do it also. I love the EPCOT resort area but CS choices are limited.

We've done both in-room dining and gotten take out while staying at BWV. I know we got take-out from ESPN and I think from Big River. Of course you also have the Boardwalk Pizza and sandwiches and desserts from BWBakery, and hot fried stuff from the kiosks too. There are also limited sandwiches at the pool bar.

Another option would be for one of you to go to the room while the other walked over to the S&D or Beach Club Market to pick up dinner.

We stay at BWV nearly every year and I get very tired from a day in the park and I'm often too tired to sit through a TS meal. So we've explored these options pretty well.

Have a great trip! :wizard:

If you could split up have one go back to the room with your DD and the other get CS from EPCOT and bring it back to the room.

We found buffets easier with DD (special needs also) as we could eat as soon as seated, pay bill right away and leave if things got out of hand. The down side is not getting food to go.

I didn't get park hoppers (one park a day is enough). So I may not be able to go to EPCOT. You are right about buffets, I have gotten boxes to go to take some dessert for later. I think the key is to take one thing for each of us and not stock up for the week. Having a server who "gets it" and understands we are there to eat and go is a huge help. Of course you never know. Last time at the Beirgarten in Germany DD enjoyed the music so much she wouldn't leave until the band took a break. She ended up sitting next to a stranger and I was afraid she might knock over her drink or try to eat off her plate. The woman was holding DDs hand and dancing by the end of the meal. Disney magic perhaps.

Either the swan or Dolphin has a 24 restauant. That may be an option for your DH to go over too if needed.

I found the link.

I've never assumed I could do take out with the TS restaurants - for reasons previously stated.

But we too had a situation, and retired to our room - I went to the Kona Cafe and asked if it was possible to get something to go - and they were able to accommodate us.

Since you are on the Boardwalk, I think there are lots of possibilities - maybe your first night you could walk around (there used to be a walk up pizza window near the Boardwalk Inn/ near the Boardwalk bakery (or am I making that up? I've never used it) - the Boardwalk Inn/Villas doesnt have a food court, they use the Boardwalk Bakery...

I would ask at Kouzzinas if that is a place that interests you, as well as the Big River Grille - the "what if my special needs child has a melt down, is it possible to get a take out meal while we are staying at villas" I think its good to walk around the first day and scope out the possibilities - I find that the Boardwalk can be a relaxing area - and you can see Illuminations from there -

if your dd has problems with the loud sounds from the fireworks, we've used the headphones for our ds when he was younger and hated those booms!
