camp-style chairs on the cruiseship? In case we want to take our chairs to cabbage beach, or there are not enough chairs at Castaway Cay? Our ship is at (every bed filled) capacity.

I suppose you can if you want to drag them.

There ARE enough chairs at Castaway Cay. The question is whether they will be where you want to sit. The farther you are willing to walk, the more chairs will be available.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother. It would be huge pain to lug them along and I doubt you'd even need them. We were on an at-capacity Dream sailing and there were plenty of chairs all along the family beach at Castaway. I wouldn't expect there to be a problem at the adult beach either, although I didn't see for myself.

I say leave them home.

I've read on here before that the ship almost always sails full, so I don't think that's probably a factor...and who wants one more thing to lug?

DCL's goal is to fill every ship. If they can't sell it out with regular paying guests, they will offer FL resident, military, travel agent, and cast member specials in order to fill it. Thus, both the ship and Castaway Cay are designed to handle a full ship load of guests.

this is full--meaning EVERY bed, every room sleeping 4 or 5-Easter week. 4000 persons on board is what I heard. We might just bring a couple. thanks, Elaine

They would have to fit thru the XRAY machine at the port, which is a normal airport conveyor belt. I guess if they fit, and if you want to carry them...

I'd say you don't need them. There are plenty of chairs available. DCL is going to provide what's needed for a full ship, whether it's the Magic or the Dream.

If you are traveling with kids, leave them at Scuttle's Cove (they will love it) and head to Serenity Bay. We were there on a full Magic on Friday and the adult beach was empty - seriously. There was only a handful of people there and the beach was gorgeous. There were so many chairs and hammocks available it seemed almost silly. But even on the family beaches there were no issues getting chairs.

would 10 yr olds like scuttles? they love cruise kids clubs (spent all the time they could there on the Baltic cruise), structured stuff, etc. But is 10 too old for the beach one? will it be mostly younger kids? when we went 3 years ago on RCCL, it was great, but 8 was about the top age.

I did. Was just there on the Dream and it was empty, maybe 50-100 people. Lots of available chairs & hammocks.

I'll dig up some photos. My dh would have a fit if I said I wanted to bring chairs but I don't think there's a rule against it. To me, it's like bringing towels from home to a hotel though.

I remember reading a few years ago (from a very experienced DCL poster) that it's human nature to take the first open space at CC that you see... Don't..Just keep walking for awhile and you'll end up with 30-45 minutes of quite family beach before the rest of the crowd end up there.

You do not need to bring our own chairs:lmao::lmao: We have done 7 cruises to CC and NEVER had trouble finding chairs for our family.

From what I can tell Scuttle's Cove is an extension of both the Oceaneer Club and Lab, so I think that means it is open to the age range 3-12. As for whether 10 year olds will like it, I don't know. You can bring and use the wave phones from your stateroom, so if your child doesn't like it you can be contacted that way.
