all the cool kids go the week before...
Hi Nikki,

I'm following from Mo's PTR too. I will be in Disney the same time Mo is there, but we leave the day before you will be coming. :confused3

I like to go over my birthday, which is at the beginning of the month.

you totally forgot how i am going to squish ya! so excited about being there with you!!!!!

Following along. We will be there in September and our dates overlap. We also have a son in 3rd grade! We are blessed to live in a school district where we have the third week of September off for fall break. We love it since our son is also getting to an age where we would stop feeling comfortable taking him out of school for a week and we don't want to ever stop going in September. Normally we stay at the Boardwalk or Beach Club but this year we will be giving Bay Lake Towers a try. I also have a PTR going for our September trip and did a TR for our trip last May where we spend two weeks at Beach Club if you want to check it out.

Hi!!! I also came over from Mo's ptr. I have heard so much about you over there I feel like I know you already!!!:goodvibes Can't wait to hear all about y'alls trips. We are going in the beginning of Oct for the first time, so by the time you go I will be totally out of my mind!!!! :rotfl2:

The beach club looks awesome and it's great to be within walking distance of Epcot. I wish we could do deluxe but since we are staying for 12 days it is just not in the cards.....maybe next time ::yes::

:welcome:

:welcome: and I will definitely check out your TR! Thanks!

We get the "nastygram" from the school telling us that there is plenty of vacation time built into the school year, yada, yada. My husband gets so mad because his vacation is granted by seniority so getting vacation time when everyone else wants it is very hard. We like September because of the low crowds. I can't see spending this kind of money and being stuck in lines all day. I want to enjoy the parks and get my money's worth!! As long as my boys get good grades, I am fine pulling them. I just don't want to do that to him his first year of middle school--too much of an adjustment period.

So probably the most important Pre-trip thing I need to do is lose some darn weight! Every single trip I say I am going to do it and it never happens. Closest I came was in 2010. I lost 20 pounds that year but by the time we went to Disney in September, I had started gaining it back.

I decided to try WW again but I am doing it from home. With the boys activities and work, I just do not have time to go to meetings. I have tried the online but to be honest, their website isn't the greatest. I have decided to log all my food in MyFitnessPal which is free and has a HUGE food database. Then I use my WW calculator and convert the food to points. It's a pain in the butt but it works.

This last trip I was not at a weight I liked but I decided to dress for comfort anyways. I bought a bunch of sundresses and let me tell you, I have NEVER been more comfortable in Disney than I was this time! Yes, my legs are chubby and my arms a bit flabby but I was so, so comfortable! I had to wear compression shorts underneath to avoid the "chub rub" but they are so thin I didn't mind them. The cotton sundresses dried wonderfully after a water ride and I was cool the entire day! I used to wear denim capris and after a while my stomach would hurt from the waistband digging in. Not this time! I only wore shorts twice!

I am planning on doing the same on my upcoming trip--just hoping to be wearing a smaller size. Pixie Dust may be needed...:wizard:

My brother is getting married in May. I am hoping to lose 20 pounds by then. I hope to lose another 20 by September.

Anyone else trying to diet before their trips?

i'm right there with you...

I need to lose!!! i hate myself right now and need to get back on the health thing.. The boys are already conscious of what they eat. It's Meg and I we love our sweets!!!! LOVE!!!

so after volleyball she and i are going to work out and eat healthy! Volleyball is already helping both of us get a little sued to some working out. Her more then I but we will also need to start getting ready for the walking in Disney too..

LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Hi Nicole! Thanks for stopping by my PTR... Sorry that you joined in when my life is semi-chaotic... HOpefully it simmers down here soon.

I loved meeting your family and you! Loved seeing all the Disney pictures! Sounds like you all have had some amazing trips!

I especially loved seeing your picture of Monty... He looks just like my MM - they could be brothers!

Looking forward to hearing more about your upcoming trip!

I'm right there with you Nikki! Charlie and I walked a lot last summer getting ready for our trip to WDW and it was so nice not to be exhausted at the end of the day. I didn't lose a whole lot of weight though, so I'm starting to work on that now too. I much prefer to walk outside, however the weather is not cooperating with that and its nearly dark by the time I get home from work. So its the not so great treadmill for me.

I usually wear skorts in the summer, but sundresses do sound even more comfortable. I'll have to keep that in mind for this year's trip.

Lets go on this journey together!

It's such a battle, every single day. Not sure if you saw my post on my PTR, but I've been going at this for almost a year now. Not that I am complaining - I've come so far mentally... And in recent weeks, I am starting to see progress again. It's so nice to know I am not the only one who is on this journey... We need to cheer eachother on. :thumbsup2

I am there. I have gained 30 lbs since our trip in September 2012 and need to get it off. Last September I was about 20lbs heavier that I should be and it really made touring hard for me. I also do WW at home (I am actually a lifetime member) because that works best for me. I also found an awesome recipe blog that I use for most of my cooking. She gives WW points already calculated for all her recipes. It is called www.skinnytaste.com . I have loved everything I have ever made off there.

:welcome: I just love my Monty! I fell in love with Mo's Logan and begged my husband for almost 2 years to get another dog and I HAD to have a Golden. Finally fate stepped in and a friend of mine breeded her Golden with her friend's female Golden. He doesn't have the strong bloodlines but he's been the best dog we have ever had! He is perfect with the kids which is what we wanted.

I am familiar with that website too! I just need to take the time and make more recipies. My family is picky with veggies so sometimes it's hard to find something that everyone will like.

For all those dieting, if you are using MFP, my user name is Nikki_7680. Feel free to friend me!

If you are using WW, my username is disneygirl7680 and I created a Disney group called "Everything Disney". Feel free to join!

One nice things about WW is that even if you don't pay for the eTools, you can still have a basic membership for the Groups and Community features.

I am on Day 5 of counting my points. Doing really well. I guess I just really needed to get refocused. I had felt so defeated for so long that I just couldn't get myself motivated anymore. But I gained about 8 pounds from October to January and I just couldn't do it anymore. I don't want to be uncomfortable at my brother's wedding. I want to stand pround by his and his bride's side and not be consumed with my weight. I also want to look back at pictures and videos and not be ashamed. I didn't lose weight for my SIL's wedding this past July and I cringe when I see pics/videos of myself dancing. I am done cringing....life is just too dang short to be so miserable.

I'm going to check out the skinnytaste website too. I've done WW in the past, but was never able to keep up with it long enough to see lasting results.

I've always wanted a golden. When Charlie and I got married he wanted to get a cocker spaniel and told me I could get a golden, but I fell in love with a little black cocker spaniel puppy, so we ended up with 2 of them. My little Lady will be 12 in April. Unfortunately, we lost her brother Duke last year to cancer.

We also have my daughter's dog, a little Min Pin/Chihauhau mix. She cannot have a dog in her apartment, so we get to keep him. I just love this little guy! I didn't think I'd like having a little dog around, especially since Chihauhaus were never my favorite breed, but Ringo has been a joy to have around. I will be very sad when Shannon moves into an apt. where she can keep him.

So sorry to hear about Duke. Our Honey will be 13 in July but she's still pretty spunky but I can also tell how she's aged.

I totally feel your pain with the weight loss. I've been trying to take off 5 to 10 pounds because right now all of my pants are too tight. I refuse to go up a size.

I struggle though because I am an extremely picky eater so a lot of diets don't work for me. I'm also limited with exercise because I have a bum hip and ankle so I can't do anything high impact. I used to do Zumba and other dance programs but I had to quit those. Now I use an exercise bike because it is low impact. I just need to get on it more often!

I definitely need to lose some, but I just can't bring myself to diet!!!:lmao: I LOVE FOOD!!! I am trying to just drink water....I don't drink a lot of soda but the sweet tea is a killer!!! If it ever warms up I am planning on forcing my family to walk, at least if we don't lose wait I want us to be in shape for all the walking at WDW. We'll see how it goes....

:welcome:
What days will you be at BC?? This is our first time staying there. Have you been there before??

Nikki,

I haven't stayed at BC before, this is my first time also. We will be there 14-21 Sept. I just re-read your intros and it seems I was there when you went on your honeymoon in Sept 2001 also! Such a small world!

Cassie
