not sure if someone mentioned this already, but Disney has started selling Vintage-style Tshirts that look 'retro'.

One of the T-shirts has a rendering of the monorail with the words "Por Favor, Mantengase Alejado de las Puertas".

I loved it so much I bought it.

Please someone reply that they also find this humorous.

Please stand clear of the doors... Por favor....

First of all welcome back to reality.:sad2:

Secondly you probably are nuts. All of us on these boards are. At the very least we are nuts about Disney!:woohoo:

Third thank you for the Band-Aid validation. It is good to know I am not completely nuts.:rolleyes1

Forth You bring up an interesting point that on different days it smelled like different things, urine, dirty mop etc. I think we should organize a team of crack (or cracked):rolleyes1 research scientists who will take notes on what color and which car they road in and what it smelled like. We can compile the data and make smell map for the monorail system! That way if you prefer urine you can pick a urine smelling car or if you prefer band-aid you can pick a band-aid smelling car.:thumbsup2

Fifth I LOVE OLD BAND-AID!!!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: This map could indeed come in handy. Since none of the cars smell "normal", I wonder which smell would be the most crowded?:confused3

I can't help but smell the stinch of urine when I ride them, it's really disgusting. Not only that, they smell like an animal barn..

Sorry for being disgusting, but that's the truth!

- and for some reason, I like it :(

Your dirty little secret is safe nobody reads this thread!:rotfl2:

I think Band-Aid but there are those urine smell lovers like Dengar.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Animal poo-poo is what it smells like to me.

Are you talking guinea pig or monkey poo-poo?:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have a somewhat different feeling, I rode the monorail for YEARS with the carpeting, etc. in place, never noticed anything smelly....then they said they were replacing the carpeting with bare floor to lessen the smell...

Well recently I was able to board a few of these "ugraded" monorails, and...they smelled like old band aids! :confused3

I think that the Band-Aid smell is a stroke of genius by the imagineer's. It can be very scary for a young child to ride in a strange vehicle so high off the ground. The imagineer's probably noticed the way a band-aid instantly soothes children after a fall, scrape or cut, even if there is no visible damage to the skin it just makes children feel better. So now when potential frightened children board the monorail they smell band-aids and subconsciously it triggers a soothing effect. Genius!! :thumbsup2

I have always thought they smelled like cow manure:laughing:

We will map out all the manure smelling cars for your pleasure.

I LOVE OLD BAND-AID!!!!!!

Is anyone going to WDW soon and would like to volunteer to keep track of the color and car they ride and most importantly the smell in that car? Yes you can be part of a research team! :thumbsup2

I thought this was funny because I finally got around to upload video from Nov and in the video on the monorail DF comments on it smelling like farm animals.
When the video starts it is me saying "thats how the get the horses to MK"

I just thought this was funny

Where did you find that t-shirt? I'd love one! :goodvibes

We got on a few trains that smelled like urine. I think what's happening is that sweaty people are getting on and sitting down. The sweat rubs off and evaporates, leaving the other ingredients of sweat (like urea) on the porous vinyl. Atlanta's Marta trains smell this way, too, although they have bona fide urine issues in some places because homeless people just ride all day sometimes. Perhaps the monorails have urine from children not holding it.

That said, I think they do a phenomenal job of cleaning these things. Every single one had clean windows and was waxed like a 20-year old car. (Although the voice on their said that they replaced the old Mark IV trains with Mark VI trains in...1994??)

I saw one online at cafe press.

And now they are testing new trains that will be quite an "attraction" but People won't be able to learn about them and their various smells to enhance their Disney experience because of the Guy below.

That's it! Eventually, everyone will know someone, who knew someone, who told their loved one they thought the monorail smelled like a band aid!!

It's like six degrees of Kevin Bacon all over again!

"Oh I'm stuck on the monorail, 'cause the monorail's stuck on me"
:rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Halarious :lmao: MMMMM Im for bacon...this must be the pink (pig) monorail.:lmao:
