my guesstimate is Oct. 23rd, the day we leave AKV

just wondering since the studios were in short supply that week, especially the values & standards (we are waitlisted)...would that mean perhaps they are not anticipated to ready yet?

just wondering, when they do open up the new portion of AK for ressies, will it be announced or will those who booked already just get lucky?

so far DVC does not allow MS to book until the building is open. No advance (to my knowledge) booking is allowed.

I guess just in case there is trouble. Home owners get a couple of months before other DVC members can book.

so of course, if it opens in Oct and MS can't book until Oct - there is alot of available for a couple of months.

Well, the units recently declared by DVC at Kidani apparently have an occupancy date of May 1, 2009.

However, we know there are other units much farther along. At least we know it will be someone between Winter and May 1, 2009!

IIRC, DVC members were not the first to stay in the Jambo House units. Believe several CMs "tried the out" first and then they were available for cash guests for awhile before the points reservations started. As spiceycat says, I'm sure that was to allow for any problems. CMs and cash guests are easier to relocate than DVC members, LOL.

I am going to to say the first phase will open December 2008. The whole thing by May of 2009. I find it interesting that DVC's first units in Kidani for sale are not in the section that is furthest along. Anyone have any idea why that is?

The first units declared are in close proximity to the lobby. And while they may not be the furthest along now, I'm sure that could change.

I'm guessing that units adjacent to the lobby will be completed first if they are doing a partial opening and then completing the segments that lie further out in additional phases.

Think about it, if they opened the segment that is closest to AKL first, while the units between that and the lobby were still under construction, you would have to check in and then either pass through, or around, a construction zone to get to your villa. Likewise, you'd have to do the same thing anytime you wanted to go back to the lobby for the restaurant, etc.

What I wonder is...any chance they'd wait until the entire Kidani Village was completed before opening it up for ressies??!!

I think that depends on how quickly they get the amenities like the pool and lobby done.

I'll jump in on this guess.

We stopped by the SSR preview center this past Sunday on our way home. The guide that we spoke with said they hope to have the first phase of Kidani open by December 2008 or January 2009. We'll see....
