:wave2: Jumping back and forth between here and the Crimson Room thread. Made it out but I needed my son's help.

Haha kadaten don't ya just wish we could forget to eat. Heck, even when my kids were babies I would be sampling their dutch apple dessert.:teeth:

Thanks! Never really thought of it being "boy band-ish" but I see your point :) I was just thinking of it being kinda wild and crazy, and somewhat devilish...which fits DS (lovingly referred to as the family terrorist  ) to a T!!

First of all, thanks for the compliments! Funny thing is, I never really thought about DH being cute. I mean I guess he is, but that's not why we got together. We met at a mutual friend's house, were both in a bad spot in our current relationships, and stayed up all night chatting (venting) about them. We just clicked and have been together ever since! Even funnier...I'd seen a picture of him my friend had. She was one of those weird goth/hippie chicks...completely abnormal. Anyway, he was and still is completely straight-laced....the picture was his senior picture, foot propped up on a bench, elbow on knee, sport coat tossed over his shoulder holding it with the other had, boring studio backdrop. Until I met him I always insisted he [BOLD]came with the frame!![/BOLD] I honestly and truly believed that was the picture that was in the framE when she bought it! He was just too normal-looking to be a friend of hers! And before anyone thinks I'm talking bad about her, as weird as she was, I liked her enough to have her for a roomie for 2 years....w'ere just WAY different people....and she had no other "normal" friends!
Braces for 2 years in high school. Glasses, yep, those too. Although I wear contacts all the time, except before bed. My vision is AWFUL. 20/400. Really bad.
Vision...unfortunately I'm worse. 20/450 in one eye, 20/525 in the other. Arggh! Why couldn't I have gotten mom's eyes...big. blue, and perfect vision!
Hobbies: I would like to start scrapbooking, but I'm afraid I'll buy a bunch of stuff & it would just sit in closet.
Uhhhh.....I resemble that remark! TONS of supplies....teeny bit to show for it!

So I'm supposed to be doing housework and other domestic things, but I got to thinking about the moves going around here and had to come up and ask.

Lewski, I never asked you about your possible Florida move. Is your family in Indiana? Your DH's? You seem so relaxed about the move. Will you have any support (friends, family) if you move to Florida?

I was also thinking about Huggabaloo. What if he doesn't have internet access at his new job or isn't allowed to come out and play with us?

I wish DH was happier with his career. It's hard for me to understand, because I think he is so fortunate to be his own boss. And the business has been doing really well! :)

LOL. I think we've all gotten a bit reflective this afternoon.

Yep! Run into "those" types all the time.

I guess I'm in the minority, because all my friends and family know that they are free to correct my children if they see/hear them doing something they shouldn't be doing. I'm pretty strict...which seems to be rare these days....and I remember when I was growing up that all our friends' parents would call us down if we were doing something we shouldn't be....and because of it, we never used the mere fact that our parents weren't around to misbehave. We're not unreasonalble or anything and my kids still think we're fun parents, we just have little tolerance for stuff like disrespect, meanness, etc. Most people my kids spend time with know my expectations for behavior, and I've told them all that they can correct my kids. Can they spank them? No, that's really a parent's place if it needs to be done, but they can certainly correct them or make them do what they should be doing.

I've had a friend who was watching them tell me Abbie was getting sassy with them and thanked them for telling me and correcting her! I hope your friend can do the same if you bring it up to her, but I do know lots of parents who would not handle being told their kid had done something wrong very well....good luck walking that tightrope!

Well, no. No family is left there, my parents and DH's are all here. But, we rarely see anyone other than my folks and they are planning on moving, at least seasonally. I have friends there as I used to live in Orlando, but we are really looking in the Ocala area. A new beginning, it'll be tough to begin with.....but we'll manage.

Just have to throw my 2cents in.

Lewski, it seems that after you become a parent you begin to look at everything differently. I think you're supposed to. I doubt that relationship is going to get any easier. You are not a :snooty: . You love and care about your kids. I think some parents either don't think about how their behavior affects their kids or they plain don't care.

It's true that they are going to hear the bad words no matter what you do and you'll have to handle it regardless of where it comes from. It'll be harder if their friends are using them.

Daniel has been really good about who he likes for friends, he's very selective so far. But now he's at an age where some kids are allowed to do more and see more and say more than he is. He has a friend that lives in the neighborhood and goes to the Catholic school with him. He's a very respectful boy. They were playing video games the other day and he asked me what words he's allowed to use in our house. I laughed and asked him what words he would like to use and he said "like crap and shut up and stuff like that". I told him he could say those words if he wanted to. It was really sweet and funny.

Daniel has never been allowed to say "shut up". When he was in 3rd grade his reading book had those words in it. He thought he had an x-rated book or something. He came running in to show me.

He asked me recently since he's getting older if he could be allowed to say some of the things his friends say like "sucks" or "shut up" or "crap". I told him it was OK as long as he didn't say it all the time and only when it was an appropriate place and time. A few days later he said he tried saying some of the words and they just don't feel right to him.

On the one hand I feel sorry for him, like I've sheltered him too much. But in general I'm very proud of who is becoming.

OK, I've obviously rambled on way too much.

Hang in there. Do what your heart tells you to and what you feel is right for your boys. You're a GOOD mom, that's obvious.::yes::

Just popping back in to say goodnight. I haven't been too busy this evening, just sorting out work things. I've sent for an application letter for a new school (it opens in September) which looks really nice so I've been trying to sort out my application letter :o
Oh well I have a few weeks to get it done!
Have a good evening everyone :wave2:

I'm guilty of saying things like crap and the like. When I'm on the phone or IM with DBf we have a no censor rule to allow for venting/My mom and relatives like him and he's told me dad and roomates like me(have not met mom yet0

Ciao Danauk!

I second that llebrekniT. Lewski is definitely a very devoted and caring mom and I'm sure that's why it's so hard.

I have the misfortune to know a 25 year old mother of 6. Only 2 of her children are to the same man and she's pregnant right now. Her entire family have always been supported by the state. I don't mean that there aren't times when people need it but her family seriously makes a living off of SSI and welfare. She told me the only reason she started having kids was because her older sister was pregnant and she wanted one too. Sheesh! I really feel for the children. 10 years of dealing with Children & Youth Services hasn't helped either.

Lewski don't worry, whatever you decide to about the party will work out fine. I'm just sorry that you have to be in this position in the first place.

I think you have a very respectful young man developing there. What a wonderful reflection on his parents.

QOTD: Hobbies: I like most crafts, although I have little time for them these days. I love scrapbooking, although I'm too much of a perfectionist to move quick enough. I also love shopping, antique hunting, and planning my next trip to Disney! And then here's home decorating...since we move every 1.5 to 3 years, I get to redecorate a lot! I also recently helped some friend finish decorating their house (they paid me in spa services...ahhh!), and am going to decorate their apartment in Italy by phone/email/mail and hopefully get a trip in the end to bring it all together! What could be better than spending someone else's money doing something I love (shop & decorate)?!

wow! I missed alot today.

My puppies are home and don't even look like my boys anymore. Their heads still look big, since they still have whiskers and some hair on top of their heads, but then they have very short hair on their skinny bodies. They look like those "The DOG" t-shirts that are everywhere.

QOTD#4: I don't remember giving anyone the bird before college, but I mainly just say it in my head to whoever deserves it!

QOTD#5: Hobbies: I love digging in the dirt ... flowers are more fun than veggies. I also love reading. My main "crafting" hobby is creating bird and butterfly houses and ornaments out of gourds decorated with flowers I have pressed and dried from my yard.

QOTD#6: No braces, but maybe someday on the lower level once kids are out of them and they are paid for. Glasses ... I was one of those bug-eyed first graders with glasses, only back then they were really cool cat's eye shaped white with glitter. I've been in hard contacts from age 16 until age 43, since then, soft lens. Don't even own a pair of glasses.

Lewski, re: nasty mouth boy... what they said!

Rick: Do you like glasses?

Everyone who posted SO pictures so far, wish I could meet them all in person. I maintain my opinion of "hubba hubba!"

Gotta go watch the yllky football player sing badly on American Idol.

Later...
