Hey guys. Did you see my new sig picture? The Easter Bunny visited us last year. :hyper:

Unfortunately, she moved away from the area, so I don't think we'll see her again this year. :(

BichonBarb, well said. I sometimes like to put on my pity party hat regarding my son and then someone comes along whose child has way more issues than mine. Thanks for your thoughts.

As for the smores debate I say we go to FW, get a camp fire going make smores and then eat the candy bar version and compare.

Hey Barb - who's the hot Bunny in your siggie?

And just so you know, I think you sound like a very reasonable and wonderful mother. Whenever you say something about parenting, I always say to myself "Oh, good." You're like my back-up and you don't even know it. You handle things pretty much the same way I do. So we're either both wrong, or both right. I prefer to think we're doing OK.;)

Well, I was so excited when I saw this candy bar, but I didn't even finish it. I took one bite and thought, hmmmm, that didn't really taste like anything. So I tried another bite and threw it away. No sense wasting calories on something that doesn't even taste good.

Let the "Great Smores candy bar" debate continue!
I'm right there with you. YUCK YUCK YUCK The graham cracker didn't taste like graham cracker and the marshmallow didn't taste like marshmallow. So what's left? Might as well just go get a plain Hershey bar for the chocolate.

RRBB, that puppy looks real. That is the cutest thing.
I can't take credit for him. ohanafamily's had him for years. Funny story - I got tired of Norman taking up our whole bed so I decided to move him upstairs. But he only made it to the stairs. In walks our maid, saw him on the stairs and nearly jumped out of her skin. It was quite amusing to watch.
hehe.gif

When I first got Norman, I was all of 10. I took him to my dad's office. I put her in a chair (it belonged to someone named Robert who was off that day...The elderly cleaning lady...Sweetest girl, almost as wide as tall, pushed a trash buggy (she wouldn't admit to needing a walker...Oh, and did I mention she had an attitude!..

She walked by Roberts desk and said " Hi Robert" three steps later she turned white (I forgot to mention that her skin had a dark pigment) started screaming that a Wolf Et Robert" It was the funniest thing. I told her...no, no... I didn't mean to get her that upset. She always looked back fondly on that. She died last year...I really miss her.....

:bounce:

OK, another QOD...was there a maid or cleaning person or maintenance person or government (Governess) or nanny...that made a difference in your life... I have several...

Great idea to settle the debate s&k'smom. So when do we leave? I'll bring the marshmallows. (I think Nephosaurus might get a little upset if I offered to bring the chocolate.)

Yes. My MOM!!!!!!

Right RRBB you bring marshmellows (the large size one not mini's;) ), I'll bring some graham crackers and meet you at Crockett's Tavern ASAP (of course we'll have a few drinks before we play with fire.

As for people making a different in our lives, my parents, 12 stepping and my therapist!

Thanks llebrekniT. That's nice of you to say. I just got a bit worried that I was coming off sounding a bit too nonchalant about parenting issues.

I think we are all good moms, otherwise we wouldn't even be having these discussions.

Now, that being said, do you want to hear how Hunter embarrassed me last night?

To bad, I'm going to tell you anyways. ;)

So he has his one and only basketball game last night. Because the boys and girls are only 7 and 8 yo, they only have one "real" game at the end of the season. So, these two teams are really mismatched. Our team is all kids who are new to the sport. A lot of them are afraid of the ball. The other team is killing us--stealing the ball left and right. Our defense just stands there.

It's the end of the game and the score is like 56 to 10. (Hunter made three baskets--he should be happy.) Eric yells some directions to Hunter. Hunter gives him the brush off wave. Parents around us chuckle. A few minutes later, I start giving him "advice", and he turns to me and yells "MOM, I don't care. This game sucks!" I was so embarassed. I'm glad that the parents around us thought it was funny. After the game, Hunter had a good cry on my shoulder, and I gave him a lecture on proper team etiquette.

BTW, Eric and I split a five scoop Reeses Pieces sundae at Friendly's last night. Are you jealous? :teeth:

:rotfl:

Maid?

:rotfl:

Nanny?

Let me tell you about my parents. They are extremely frugal. Not when it concerns other people though (they are very giving), but when it comes to themselves. To the point that my mother is a martyr. Sure, they came to this country with $500, but my dad worked hard, saved, worked hard, and saved, and you'd think they could now enjoy themselves. No. And I know they have plenty socked away.

They live in a 900 foot square home in the city. Right now, they are in Florida for a month, in an apartment that doesn't even have a phone. The address is "Federal Highway" or something.

So my sister and I have guilt because we enjoy life. A couple of years ago, my parents were driving down to Atlanta to visit my sister. Well, my sister wanted to have a clean house when they got there but didn't have time to do it herself. (Did I mention my parents are ridiculously neat and clean. My dad can't have a dandelion on his lawn.) So, she secretly hires a cleaning service. Well, my parents are also always early for everything. They pulled into my sister's driveway as the cleaning person was leaving.

Bwhaaaaaaaaaaa! Busted! LOL. Of course, my mother could not understand how her daughter, a SAHM, couldn't find time to clean her own home and was completely beside herself. Bwhaaaaaaaa. I'm glad it wasn't me. :p Hey, my sister is high maintenance. ;)

Okay, I'm going to shut up now. I talk too much. (yeah right)

Great story Barb! Your kids sound so funny. I bet they'd get along well with Daniel (my nephew).

QOTD: I like Reese cups best. After I had Josh I bought them by the 2 pound bag. I would sit in the glider chair & eat them all day. My *** got really wide after a while.....so I started eating them standing up!

Other QOTD: Our dogs are not allowed upstairs. We just got new carpet. They are allowed on the hard woods & tile floor. No carpet.

Ohana's QOTD: My mom. I have only realized over the last few years how amazing she was while we were growing up. Our house was always clean, laundry always done, & dinner was amazing every night (well, except meatloaf night). Well, when DH & I got married I realized all this stuff doesn't just happen. It is A LOT of work! Well, luckily, I got the cooking gene (if I do say so myself). I have gotten a lot better keeping up with laundry, but I find it incredibly hard to keep the house clean on a daily basis. I don't know how she did it.

llebrekniT, tell us the truth. Did Deadheadbelle's butt really get wide from eating peanut butter cups? I don't believe her.

;)

Hey Everyone!!! I can't believe I missed the whole other thread!! Well, I'll try and keep up with this one!!:teeth:

Love the new place, it rocks!!! Although it does kinda creep me, lol........I want the super spendtacular amazing room with the windows around it overlooking the lake and the plasma tv and the awesome sound system and the amps for my electric guitar and the posters of blink-182, linkin park, good charlotte, metallica, pod, well, u get the drift, lol!!

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :wave2:

I think we all now know who is truly spoiled rotten.
Did you have a butler too? A chef? A humidifier room for the cigars? Geeeeeeshhhhhhhhh!

My mom was the maid, cleaning service, baby sitter, cook, bill payer, grocery getter, you name it. My dad worked, hunted and gathered ( gardened). Mom's work was inside, dad's was outside. Mom went to wrk at her part time job full time when dad retired. Dad retired and got two part time jobs. Now, mom has a cleaning lady that comes once every 2 weeks.

I have vowed that I need a cleaning lady, just am afraid of giving someone a key. I really need help. DH not allowed to fold laundry, won't ever wash whites (only I wear whites, so why bother?) and doesn't cook. Our dishwasher broke 3-4 weeks ago and gues who's been hand washing.....yours truly.

BTW, I am now looking for homes for ALL 3 Guinea Pigs. One baby already gone. I think I am allergic too!

QOTD: The dog stays outside and we have a indoor rabbit and in and out cats

Bichon Barb, sorry but that bunny picture is just plain creepy. It looks like an opening scene to one of a holiday slasher flick. One that I'd run out to see mind you. But it's creepy nonetheless.

As for Ohanafamily's question, Bill (aka Prince of Darkness) has full run of our apartment. And our living room set shows it. But we wouldn't have it any other way. He's a great cuddler and is nice to nap with. For a demon anyway...

As for any "help" growing up, we had a maid/nanny for years. She was the best. I still think about her from time to time. We also had gardeners and a sewing lady. We were living in Japan at that time.

But when we moved to Florida, no chance. My Dad thought it best that my brothers and I learn to cope with reality. I distinctly remember at the ripe old age of 14 (my brother was 15). We were instructed to mow the lawn. Well, we had never touched a lawnmower by that time so we just stood staring at it, poking it from time to time. When my Dad came out, he asked us why we hadn't finished.

Our repsonse? "Don't know how to make this thing work."

Well, both of my parents worked while I was growing up. My mother had a maid, she retired...we still call her the "Princess" I usually refember to call her on her birthday.

As I got older, they needed someone to pick me up from school and make sure I was fed etc. They hired a college girl to be my "Government" She drove a "Yello Beagle" (it was actualle a beetle), and I can tell you of many adventures. I was actually fairly easy to take care of...I was in my "Hot-Dog" phase (all I would eat were Hot Dogs, with the occasional trip to Haagen Daaz. After I got my driving permit, she graduated, and I was free...

I got into it with some bullies on the bus and my parents pulled me off of it. On the days she was off I would ride my bike to my Aunt's house...

At my dad's office there was the cleaning woman who was very special (and opinionated) I used to love to listen to her telling people what and where to go and do. To this day I don't pour liguids in a trash can.....

No Buttler, but I occasionally got to use the corporate limo to pick one of dad's clients up from the airport...They sold it a few years back. I actually took it down to Austin once (a month before a close friend died of cancer to take them around town in style for a few day (His widdow can't drive, and the kids were too young).

Listen to me ramble, you would think I was 80 years old...
